Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views on traditional theatres/cinemas and online platforms, alongside a personal opinion, but the execution remains limited and under-developed. While you attempt to cover the economic and cultural aspects mentioned in the prompt, your ideas lack thorough explanation and clear support. For instance, statements such as 'theatres and cinemas are the best way to introduce old tradition and culture' are left without specific examples or adequate expansion. Your position is discernible, but the overall development of arguments feels repetitive and superficial, restricting the depth of the discussion. To achieve higher bands, you need to extend your main points with detailed explanations, concrete examples, and a fully articulated progression of thought throughout each body paragraph.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays some overall organization with clear paragraph breaks separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, and the flow between sentences often feels disjointed. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate or inaccurate, such as using 'through to cinemas' or repetitive transition markers like 'Moreover' and 'Furthermore' without fully establishing logical relationships between clauses. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen in sentences like 'for that kind of movies and program we have online platform' where the connection to the preceding idea is clumsy. To improve, you should focus on using a wider variety of cohesive ties more accurately and ensure that each sentence transitions smoothly into the next to build a cohesive argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary range is limited but minimally adequate for conveying basic ideas. You attempt to use less common items, such as 'telecast', 'nostalgia', and 'censer content', but these attempts are marred by noticeable word choice and word form errors, such as 'grub more knowledge' instead of 'grab' or 'gain', and 'stable as a financially'. Spelling and collocation inaccuracies appear frequently throughout the text, including 'big screened' and 'all age group people', which occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader. To move up to the next band, you must expand your lexical repertoire and ensure greater precision in word selection, avoiding awkward phrasing and ensuring that your chosen terms fit naturally within the context of academic writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay relies on a very limited range of sentence structures, and your attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in grammar, punctuation, and word forms within grammatical patterns, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('online platform have', 'numerous program has') and incorrect prepositions or missing articles. For example, expressions like 'due to that wherever we have a time so can watch' demonstrate a breakdown in clause structure and frequent errors that cause difficulty for the reader. To improve your grammar score, you need to demonstrate better control over a wider variety of complex grammatical structures, ensuring that your sentences are constructed accurately and punctuation is used correctly.
