Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that with the advancement in technology, theatres and cinemas have lost their relevance in today's world, but others believe that theatres and cinemas are plays a pivot role in a country's economy and cultural heritage. I agree with this conseus to some extent.
On one hand, with the technological innovation some citizens are of the view that entertainment centres have lost the crowed's attention mostly beacuse of the overwhelming work and access to mobile phones and TVs at their households. Individual in contemporary age do not prefer to go out after a tidious day at workplace prefer a calm space for entertainment in the leisure time. In addition, they have a range of options to choose from such comedy shows, instagram reels, which offer quick dopamine release, and live shows. All these various reasons contributes to the declining trend of theatres and cinemas.
On the other hand, it is argued that entertainment centres are the pillar of economic growth and preservatation of cultural heritage. With the introduction of OTT platforms such as Netflix, HBO, Apple Tv and social media platforms, the film making bussinesses have lost a large revenue coming from the the theatres fee. For instance, Bollywood, which contributes to the GDP has now fewer hits then before. Furthermore, visiting theatres connects the loved ones, and expose citizens to the pure form of arts which results in the conservation of art and cultural diversity.
In conclusion, the trend of theatres and cinemas are declining because of the workload and the conveniances with the technological development and which results in the extinction of cultural exposure and economical depletion. In short, this trend is like a double-edged swords

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both the view that theatres and cinemas are no longer important due to online entertainment and the counterargument regarding economic and cultural value, while also providing a personal opinion. However, some ideas remain under-developed or briefly stated rather than fully extended. For instance, the discussion on how streaming platforms impact box office revenues could benefit from deeper elaboration. Your position is generally clear throughout the essay, guiding the reader from the introduction through the body paragraphs to a summarised conclusion, fulfilling the core requirements of this level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the introduction, two body paragraphs, and the conclusion logically. Cohesive devices are used to signal shifts between ideas, such as 'On one hand' and 'On the other hand', ensuring the text is easy to follow. However, referencing is occasionally mechanical or imprecise, and some transitional links feel slightly formulaic. To reach a higher level, you could improve the flow between sentences by ensuring pronouns and demonstratives refer back more smoothly without relying on repetitive structural patterns.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
An adequate range of vocabulary is deployed for the task, allowing you to discuss entertainment, technology, and culture with some flexibility. You attempt less common vocabulary items such as 'technological innovation', 'cultural diversity', and 'double-edged sword'. However, noticeable word-choice and spelling errors are present throughout the text, such as 'plays a pivot role' instead of 'pivotal role', 'conseus' for 'consensus', 'crowed's' for 'crowd's', 'beacuse', 'tidious', 'preservatation', 'bussinesses', 'conveniances', and 'swords'. These errors occasionally distract the reader, though they do not completely impede communication. Expanding your control over word forms and careful proofreading will help elevate your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and introductory dependent clauses successfully. However, there are several grammar and punctuation errors scattered throughout the writing. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'cinemas are plays a pivot role', incorrect singular/plural or countable noun usage such as 'Individual in contemporary age', and minor prepositional or article slips like 'at their households' and 'in the leisure time'. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher rating. Working on sentence structure precision and careful checking of verb forms will strengthen your control.
