Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—the decline of cinemas due to online streaming and their ongoing cultural and economic importance—while also presenting a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and uneven. While the second and third body paragraphs present relevant points regarding convenience and cultural preservation, some ideas remain under-developed or repetitive. For instance, the discussion on economic benefits lacks elaboration beyond a brief mention of revenue generation. The position is clear throughout, but the depth of argument needs to be extended to move beyond general statements and fully satisfy the demands of higher band descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into introduction, body paragraphs addressing different perspectives, a personal opinion, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct ideas. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, with basic connectors used repetitively such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. Referencing is not always clear, and the logical progression between sentences occasionally stumbles due to abrupt transitions. To improve, the writer should employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure smoother links between supporting details and main arguments.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, providing a minimally sufficient range to discuss the topic of cinemas versus online streaming. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'fast-paced world', 'cultural heritage', and 'revenue', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, form, and spelling, such as 'entrain', 'advanatge', 'contry', 'generat', and 'reveneu'. Additionally, awkward phrasing like 'have subscription of various online apps' points to limitations in collocation and stylistic control. These lexical slips and spelling errors occasionally cause slight difficulty for the reader, restricting the score to this level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are persistent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'many people does not go', missing articles such as 'to watch movie', incorrect prepositions, and punctuation problems like run-on clauses in the conclusion ('digital devices has made lives easy make everything accessible'). Frequent errors in verb forms and singular/plural consistency require effort from the reader to parse meaning, which characterises the grammatical control seen at this level.
