Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, digital technology has transformed the way to access entertainment on the internet. Many people can watch movies, dramas, and online programs. As a result, many people believe that cinema and theater services are no longer necessary. However other believe that cinemas and theaters are important for culture and the economy. In this essay, we will discuss both sides and explain why cinemas and theaters remain valuable.
On the one hand, online entertainment is more popular in a modern society; it is more convenient and affordable. Individuals can watch anything according to their mood without the problem of buying cinema tickets and traveling to the theaters. They can watch movies and programs at a very low price. For example, most of the individuals can subscribe to one online platform and enjoy unlimited access to different content. They can enjoy a lot of beautiful scenes without wasting time and money.
On the other hand, theaters and cinemas can play an important role in the lives of people that cannot be replicated at home. The crowd in the theaters enjoys a cheerful comedy and reduces stress. People can watch a film on the big screen, and the beautiful noise of the speakers can make a good impression on the audience.
In my opinion, digital technology is increasing among the younger generation, but theaters and cinema play an important role in tradition and the economy. It can help with face-to-face interaction with the actors because people can meet them in real life to see the real condition and memorize; he has no ay additional things have not luxury life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views on cinemas versus online entertainment and offers a personal opinion, fitting the criteria for partial coverage. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on economic and cultural importance in the third body paragraph is extremely brief and lacks specific support or examples. The writer's position is discernible, but the conclusion becomes somewhat unclear and tangled with disjointed thoughts, such as 'he has no ay additional things have not luxury life', which prevents the task from being fully explored. To move higher, all parts of the prompt need thorough extension with well-supported arguments and clear, consistent reasoning throughout every section.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the contrasting views. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is not always clear. For example, transition phrases like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' are utilized to structure the text, but the internal links between sentences can be repetitive, such as the constant use of 'They can...' in the second paragraph. Progression between ideas sometimes stalls, particularly in the concluding paragraph where the flow breaks down. To achieve a higher band, the writer should employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure smoother logical transitions from one idea to the next without abrupt shifts.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student displays an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'digital technology', 'convenient and affordable', and 'unlimited access'. However, there are noticeable word-choice and collocation errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, such as writing 'theatre and cinema services' or referring to the 'beautiful noise of the speakers'. Attempts to use less common vocabulary result in inaccuracies, and spelling or phrasing slips appear, such as 'other believe' in the introduction. To improve lexical scores, the writer should focus on precise word choices, natural collocations, and expanding the repertoire of less common lexical items while maintaining strict accuracy in word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, such as conditional or subordinate clauses like 'while online entertainment is more popular'. Nevertheless, the grammatical range is limited, and attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in verb forms, prepositions, and singular-plural agreement, such as 'in a modern society' and the convoluted grammar in the concluding sentence 'he has no ay additional things have not luxury life'. While these errors rarely completely impede basic communication, they cause noticeable difficulty and distraction for the reader. To progress, the writer needs to increase sentence variety and exercise better control over grammatical structures and punctuation.
