Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the main parts of the task by discussing both online entertainment platforms and the economic and cultural importance of physical venues, while also providing a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For example, the explanation regarding how online platforms help governments create jobs is abrupt and lacks sufficient support. Similarly, the argument about elder people visiting theatres out of addition is unclear and suffers from expression issues. The writer's position is discernible, particularly in the conclusion, but the overall treatment of the prompts stays somewhat basic and partial. To reach a higher standard, the student needs to fully extend and support each viewpoint with clear reasoning and relevant examples rather than making generalized and underdeveloped statements.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organization with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an attempt at a logical structure. However, there is no clear overall progression throughout the text. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, such as the mechanical and repetitive use of transition phrases like 'On the first hand', 'On the other side', and 'In conclusion'. Referencing is also unclear at times, particularly with pronouns like 'they' and 'this activities' in the third paragraph, which makes it difficult to follow the exact logical connections between ideas. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion requires better management. To improve, the writer should employ a wider and more accurate range of cohesive ties and ensure smooth, logical transitions between sentences and paragraphs.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic ideas about entertainment and technology. There are noticeable lexical errors and spelling mistakes throughout the text that cause some difficulty for the reader, such as 'improtance', 'neccessary', 'agrred', 'balnce', 'habtual', 'addition' (intended as tradition), and 'manintaining'. The range of vocabulary is restricted, and attempts to use less common items often result in incorrect word choice or collocation. To achieve a higher level, the student must expand their vocabulary range, learn the correct forms and spellings of academic terms, and demonstrate greater precision in word choice to communicate ideas without impeding the reader's understanding.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple sentences or faulty attempts at complex ones. Frequent grammatical errors are present, including issues with verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles, such as 'young generation give', 'because they watched any movies', 'after saw current work-life balnce', and 'these building'. Punctuation and word form errors within grammatical structures also occur regularly, such as 'help in provide work'. These frequent errors can cause difficulty and distraction for the reader. To progress, the writer needs to incorporate a wider variety of error-free complex sentence structures and improve the overall grammatical accuracy of verb forms, plurals, and prepositions.
