Student answer (Band 5.0)

We live in the era where "AI will take over the world". However , i believe that can never happen. the reason behind this is because no amount of AI can change what is culturally there in society. It is true that many have stopped going to theatres or cinemas and prefer watching their favorite entertainments at home .Nevertheless, there are still many people that go to watch their entertainment as it does shaped the society and its culture and economy. From personal experience, I come from a state which is rooted in art and literature , thus , I still see many people going to theatres and cinemas with friends and families and spending a great time together.

Although , many still visit theatres and cinemas , the number has rapidly decreased. We live in a world where jobs are being replaced by AI, so small things like going to watch a movie has become a hassle for many. Especially in cities where everyone is busy with their own lives and have no time to spare over watching entertainment at the cinemas or theatres. for example, a person coming home after a tiring day of work then managing family would definitely not go out of their own comfort and prefer to watch their entertainments online rather than spend time , money and energy over physically going and watching. Therefore, it can be said that in today's digital world , people have stopped going to theatres and cinemas for entertainment even though they are a part of our culture and economy and one that shapes the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially, presenting limited and under-developed ideas regarding the importance of theatres and cinemas. While the student attempts to discuss both views and provides a personal opinion, the arguments lack sufficient extension and support. For instance, the mention of cultural roots and AI replacing jobs is introduced but not fully connected to the core debate about digital entertainment versus physical venues. The position is stated, but the overall development remains superficial, characteristic of a response that touches upon the prompts without thoroughly exploring the economic and cultural implications mentioned in the task.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The text shows some basic organisation with paragraphs, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas throughout the essay. Cohesive devices are used rather repetitively and mechanically, such as starting sentences with 'However', 'Nevertheless', or 'Although' in a rigid manner. Furthermore, referencing and logical transitions between sentences can be slightly disjointed, making the flow somewhat abrupt. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal linking of arguments lacks the seamless progression required for higher bands, resulting in a somewhat fragmented reading experience.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common expressions such as 'rooted in art and literature' and 'comfort and prefer', but there are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and phrasing, such as writing 'watching their favorite entertainments' instead of 'entertainment' or 'as it does shaped' instead of 'shape'. While communication is generally maintained, these lexical inaccuracies and repetitive terms like 'theatres and cinemas' constrain the range of vocabulary displayed throughout the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writing demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic complex forms. Attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty, accompanied by frequent punctuation and capitalization errors, such as missing capital letters at the beginning of sentences ('the reason behind this', 'for example'), stray spaces before punctuation marks ('However , i believe'), and incorrect verb forms ('it does shaped' and 'have no time to spare over watching'). These persistent errors in grammar and mechanics cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted control over grammatical structures.
