Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—the rise of online entertainment and the enduring economic and cultural importance of physical venues—while also presenting a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is uneven. For example, while the point about online streaming services like Netflix is reasonably clear, the discussion regarding economic and cultural impact remains somewhat general and under-developed, relying on broad assertions such as "it boost country economy and show unity among people" without specific support or elaboration. Consequently, the ideas remain at a level where certain aspects are covered more fully than others, satisfying the requirements for this band.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical structure with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing each viewpoint, and a conclusion that restates the writer's stance. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesion within and between sentences is generally functional, though some cohesive devices and referencing appear slightly mechanical or repetitive, as seen with phrases like "First of all" and "However, these places". Furthermore, transitional phrasing between sentences occasionally feels abrupt. This performance reflects a standard where progression is maintained overall, but cohesive elements are at times faulty or clunky, representing the midpoint between clear progression and mechanical linking.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their main ideas about cinemas and digital platforms. There are noticeable attempts to use less common or topic-specific vocabulary, such as "cultrual progress", "subscription", and "international industry". However, the text contains frequent lexical errors in word choice, spelling, word formation, and collocation. Examples include spelling errors like "popluar" and "poplulated", awkward word forms such as "in my perceptive" instead of perspective, and incorrect prepositions or collocations like "economic outcome from international industry". These errors recur throughout the response and occasionally cause some difficulty or hesitation for the reader, fitting the constraints of this lexical level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating clauses introduced by conjunctions such as "although", "because", and "while". However, control over grammatical structures is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and articles throughout the text, such as "in recent year, individuals argue that digital age, theater and cinema are...", "several reason", "these places needs to be developed", and "many platform offers". While these errors do not completely obscure the central meaning of the essay, they are noticeable and persistent enough to restrict the grammatical score, as complex structures often contain faults and accuracy is limited.
