Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this modern age, theaters and cinemas are regarded as unimportant by some people as they can access all the entertainment online. Although some people argue that they hold both economic and cultural value. However, in my opinion they are important as they offer an escape from our daily lives.
On the one hand, entertainment is accessible to almost everyone because of technology. All kind of movies, documentries, shows, etc., are now available online and to enjoy those only electronics and wifi is required. Moreover, people can buy subscriptions to the platforms and watch whatever they may like. For example, Netflix now offers a multitude of options over the genres to its viewers and there will be no advertisements disturbing them while they watch shows they like. In addition to movies, series and plays; stand ups, commentries and numerous sorts of documentries are available. Thus, people fatigued from work all day long prefer online entertainment.
On the other hand, theaters and cinemas offer to meet new people and have an experience with the strangers that some may argue is important. Furthermore, big screens and live plays give a realistic approach to the content of the show. Nowadays new developments in cinemas like IMAX and 3D make the viewers feel as they were experiencing the scene in the real time. This helps people have an outdoor experience and process not just their reactions but also how others reacted to the show. This can develop communication leading to connections.
In conclusion, online access to entertainment has provided people with a new way to enjoy themselves but cinemas and theaters still hold their value and the new developments make them more viable.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the view that online entertainment replaces theaters and the perspective that cinemas retain economic and cultural value, while also providing your own opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the discussion on digital streaming platforms in the second paragraph is well supported with examples like Netflix and the absence of advertisements, whereas the arguments regarding the cultural and economic value of cinemas in the third paragraph are somewhat generalized and could have been extended further to reach a higher level. Your position is clear throughout the essay, fulfilling the core requirements of this standard.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from discussing online platforms to evaluating physical cinemas, followed by a summarizing conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct ideas into logical blocks. Cohesion is evident through standard markers such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. Nonetheless, cohesion is occasionally mechanical or faulty, such as in the opening sentences where the transition 'Although some people argue...' functions as a sentence fragment rather than being properly linked to the main clause, making referencing slightly less smooth.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
An adequate range of vocabulary is deployed for the task, successfully communicating your ideas about entertainment mediums. You make commendable attempts to use less common items such as 'multitude of options', 'fatigued from work', and 'viable', demonstrating an awareness of appropriate academic topics. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and spelling, such as writing 'documentries' instead of 'documentaries', 'commentries' instead of 'commentaries', and using phrases like 'realistic approach to the content' where a more natural collocation would be 'realistic portrayal'. These minor lexical errors do not impede communication, allowing the reader to follow your arguments easily.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and subordinate structures reasonably well throughout the essay. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as the sentence fragment in the introduction ('Although some people argue that they hold both economic and cultural value. However, in my opinion...'), minor preposition issues like 'over the genres' instead of 'across the genres', and an incorrect article or pluralization in 'wifi is required'. Despite these persistent errors in grammar and punctuation, they rarely impede communication, and you maintain a reasonable level of control over your sentence structures.
