Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued wether cinemas and theatres plays significant role for people economically and culturally as it can be seen online in these digital era. This essay will discuss both views and presents my own opinion.
Those who supports online platform to consume entertainment opines that it offers convenience to human beings. Because movies and drama can be watch any time online whenever people have suffiicient time, even they can devide their leisure time and spilt entertainment into many parts. For example, working professionals often struggle with lack of time, so they may watch movies in respect of their availability. Another significant advantage is that affordability. This is because traditional cinemas and theatres might have higher ticket cost per head, with online media, multiple people can watch it many times on a single subscription charge. Examples can be seen in Netflix subscription where 4 to 5 individuals watch a movie and web series many times as they want on a single subscription.
However, traditional thetres and cinemas often offers great visual experience, which is not available in online platform. For instance, multiplexs have installed high-end sound systems such as dolby, and high-defination video quality, which might be not possible in online platform. Moreover, traditional theatres helps to boost countries economy. If drama lovers visits theatres to watch it, many people working at that place would earn livelihood from visiting audience presence, that makes theatres alive.
To conclude, although online media has to offers convenience and affordable option for watchers, I believe theatres and cinemas plays significant role for the economy and it visual experience can not be matched by online platform.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views regarding the relevance of theatres and cinemas in the digital age, while also presenting a clear personal opinion. The ideas presented are generally relevant, such as discussing online convenience and affordability versus traditional sensory experiences and economic contributions. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed rather than fully extended. For instance, the point about boosting the country's economy through audience presence is introduced but lacks specific supporting evidence or deeper explanation. To move into higher bands, the writer needs to ensure that every main idea is thoroughly supported and extended with robust examples and comprehensive reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression from discussing online platforms to evaluating traditional cinemas, followed by a concluding summary. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with distinct sections for the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to link ideas, such as 'Those who supports', 'Another significant advantage', and 'However'. However, referencing and cohesion can occasionally feel somewhat mechanical or repetitive, and some transitional links are slightly awkward. To achieve a higher level of cohesion, the writer should employ a wider and more flexible variety of cohesive devices while ensuring referencing is consistently seamless throughout the essay.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used provides an adequate range for the task, successfully communicating the writer's ideas about entertainment and technology. The student attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'convenience', 'affordability', and 'livelihood'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice, word form, and spelling throughout the text. Examples include typing 'wether' instead of 'whether', 'plays' instead of 'play', 'supports' instead of 'support', 'watch' instead of 'watched', 'multiplexs' instead of 'multiplexes', and 'high-defination' instead of 'high-definition'. These lexical and spelling errors do not entirely impede communication, but they restrict the score. To improve, the writer must expand their active vocabulary, pay closer attention to word forms, and refine their spelling accuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to use relative clauses and conditional structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions within grammatical patterns. Examples of these errors include 'cinemas and theatres plays' instead of 'play', 'Because movies and drama can be watch' instead of 'watched', 'even they can devide' instead of 'divide', 'traditional thetres and cinemas often offers' instead of 'offer', and 'theatres helps' instead of 'help'. While these errors rarely impede overall communication, their frequency means the writing does not yet maintain consistent control over complex structures. To progress, the writer needs to focus on rigorous proofreading to eliminate basic agreement and tense errors.
