Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response addresses the task only minimally and fails to meet the required word count minimum of 250 words, stopping short at 183 words. The student touches upon the two views regarding the importance of cinemas in the digital age and briefly attempts to state a personal opinion, but the ideas remain heavily restricted, repetitive, and underdeveloped. The position is difficult to follow due to extreme brevity and lack of elaboration, resulting in a performance that meets the criteria for a minimal response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

Information and ideas are not arranged coherently in this response. There is a complete lack of proper paragraphing, with the entire text presented as a single, dense block of writing. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused, leading to a confusing structure where ideas blur together without logical progression or clear relationships between sentences. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it very difficult for the reader to follow the train of thought from one point to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple words like 'people', 'watch', 'movies', and 'social media' throughout the text. There are noticeable errors in word choice, such as 'economically strongly', and word forms that strain the reader's comprehension. Spelling and collocation attempts are restricted, and the limited range of vocabulary is inadequate for presenting clear arguments on this academic topic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical structures are very limited, consisting mostly of fragmented or poorly constructed simple sentences. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tenses, and sentence construction, such as 'There are some people say' and 'people can watched all the activities'. Subject-verb agreement and prepositions are handled inaccurately, and these persistent errors frequently distort the intended meaning and cause significant difficulty for the reader.
