Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people believe that theatres and cinemas are not as much important as they were previously, because of the digital advancements. On the other side, other people argue that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally.
I believe that theatres and cinemas are still important or even more demanding than previous times. The theatre and cinema culture has played a significant role from the start by engaging people. Cinema offers a execptional experience that simply can not match the experience of watching something online via mobile, laptop or desktop. Movie or live shows that takes place in cinemas or theatres offers advanced sound technology, high image quality and smooth experience which aren't available immidiately online.
There are no doubts about the recents technology advancements all across the globe. Internet has become a one huge sources of almost everything. From business to entertainment, people can easily access any movie, show, podcast from anywhere in the world. But still, there are huge fan bases of people who wants to enjoy their favourite movies or shows in cinemas rather than waiting for it to release in online.
A considerable amount of people access movies, shows, podcasts, or different kinds of entertainment sources through piracy are committting a crime because piracy is considered a illegal.
another reason which makes cinemas essential is because the movies that are being developed are specially created for advanced cinematic experience. For instance, one of the latest movie named "The Odessy" directed by Christopher Nolan was filmed in IMAX cameras, so the movie offers a higher resolution if seen in IMAX cinemas.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the main task by discussing both views on the relevance of theatres and cinemas in the digital age, alongside your own opinion. However, the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, while you mention economic and cultural importance in the introduction, this angle is not deeply explored in the body paragraphs, focusing instead mainly on the viewing experience. Furthermore, the fourth paragraph about piracy appears somewhat disconnected from the central argument regarding the cultural or economic viability of physical venues. To move to a higher level, you should ensure that every main view is fully expanded with detailed explanations and pertinent examples that directly support your stated position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some basic organisation in the text with clear paragraph breaks separating your introduction, body points, and stance. However, the overall progression lacks clear logical links between sentences and paragraphs, creating a slightly disjointed flow. For example, the transition into the discussion about piracy in paragraph four is abrupt and lacks cohesive ties to the preceding sentence about fan bases. Additionally, referencing is sometimes unclear, and cohesive devices are repetitive or inadequately used. To achieve a stronger flow, you need to employ a wider range of logical connectors and ensure each paragraph transitions smoothly into the next, building a cohesive argument from start to finish.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You display a minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words such as 'advancements', 'cinematic', and 'podcasts'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and spelling mistakes throughout the text, such as 'execptional', 'immidiately', 'recents', 'sources' instead of 'source', and 'committting' alongside 'a illegal'. These errors occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve your lexical score, you should focus on precision in word choice, correct word forms, and accurate spelling of common academic and thematic terms, while actively avoiding basic slips in articles and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
Your writing uses a limited range of sentence structures, and your attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are several grammatical errors regarding subject-verb agreement and singular/plural forms, such as 'theatres and cinemas are not as much important', 'Movie or live shows that takes place... offers', and 'people who wants'. Punctuation and phrasing also show frequent inaccuracies that can cause difficulty for the reader, such as 'are committting a crime because piracy is considered a illegal' and 'another reason which makes cinemas essential is because the movies...'. To progress, you need to practise forming more complex sentence structures accurately and carefully check your basic agreements and verb forms before finalising.
