Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the 21st century when everything you desire is available in just one click. So many people have strong argument on that in this era, Theaters and cinemas are no longer important, But many people beleives that these are still important both economically and culturally. Both parties have their own valid opinion.

Now i will give my percepctive on it.

The people who said said Theatre and Cinema are not important are those who think or assume that going to these places is just the waste of time and money. The people who are busy in their daily activities and can not manage to arrange some precious minutes from their time to enjoy due to their responsibilites find these entertainment points boring because in their point of view it can be enjoyed at home with no transportation cost and waste of time. They can enjoy same movie/show at their phone.

The 2nd party who said they are still important both culturally and economically are good in their own way. Cinemas and theatres support people financially, for some these are only source of their earnings. They work here and support their family. And in cultural context, These theatres and cinemas represents our culture to the young generation to the tourists and international visitors.

In my point of View both arguments have some good and bad clauses. Cinemas and Theatres can not be shut off properly and can not run smoothly like in the past. So its choice of people to do whatever the feel convinent wether they want to enjoy with their family at home or in Cinema or theatre.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the main task by discussing both views on the importance of theatres and cinemas in the digital age, and a personal opinion is provided in the final paragraph. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed throughout. For instance, the discussion regarding the economic and cultural significance of cinemas simply states that they support people financially and represent culture, without providing extended examples or deeper exploration. Additionally, the writer's position is somewhat unclear initially and simplistic in its delivery, focusing heavily on basic statements rather than fully elaborated arguments. To reach the next level, the writer needs to present well-developed ideas with clearer supporting details and more thorough explanations for both perspectives.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation present, with the text broken into separate paragraphs representing the introduction, different views, and the conclusion. However, there is a noticeable lack of clear overall progression, and the logical flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed. For example, the sentence "Now i will give my percepctive on it" is abrupt and breaks the natural cohesive flow of the essay. Cohesive devices are used rather inadequately and repetitively, such as the repetitive framing of "The people who said" and "The 2nd party". Furthermore, paragraphing is somewhat erratic, featuring very short, fragmented sentences and paragraphs that hinder smooth reading. To improve, the writer should ensure a more logical progression of ideas and employ a wider, more accurate range of cohesive links.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey basic points about cinemas and online entertainment. There are noticeable lexical errors and inappropriate word choices that cause some difficulty for the reader, such as writing "beleives", "percepctive", "convinent", and "wether". The writer attempts some less common phrasing, but issues with word form and spelling prevent clearer communication. To move higher, the student needs to expand their lexical range, demonstrate more precision in word choice and collocations, and eliminate basic spelling and word-form errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a limited range of grammatical structures, relying primarily on simple sentences alongside some attempts at complex sentences that are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as sentence fragments and punctuation issues like starting sentences improperly with coordinating conjunctions or straying into run-on structures ("In the 21st century when everything you desire is available in just one click. So many people have strong argument..."). Articles, subject-verb agreement, and capitalization errors also persist throughout the text. To achieve a higher band, the writer must demonstrate better control over complex sentence patterns and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors that disrupt the reading process.
