Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views and stating a personal opinion, placing it in the mid-range for this criterion. However, the development of ideas remains limited and repetitive. For instance, the arguments regarding online streaming in the second paragraph simply reiterate that people can watch multiple shows and save time without providing deep extension or concrete real-world examples beyond mentioning Netflix. Similarly, the counter-argument regarding economics in the third paragraph becomes slightly confused when claiming that cinema tickets can be lower in price than streaming subscriptions. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to present fully extended ideas with deeper analysis and clearer support for both perspectives rather than relying on circular arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some overall organization with clear paragraph breaks separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, yet it lacks a clear progression throughout the text. Cohesive devices are frequently repetitive and mechanical, relying heavily on formulas such as 'Another reason is' and 'As a result' to link sentences. Furthermore, referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the pronoun use in sentences like 'For example, If an individual watching movie and suddenly he want to watch another movie...'. Paragraphing is used, but internal transitions need to be managed more flexibly to guide the reader smoothly. To achieve a higher band, the writer should employ a wider and more natural variety of cohesive links and ensure that ideas flow logically from one point to the next without abrupt transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, providing a basic range of terms related to digitalization, entertainment, and cinemas. However, there is a noticeable lack of precision and a reliance on repetitive words such as 'movies', 'shows', and 'online'. Word choice and word form errors occur throughout the text, including 'digitalization made it easier' instead of 'digitisation has made', 'save lot of time' lacking an article, and 'lager screen' instead of 'larger screen'. While these vocabulary slips do not completely impede communication, they restrict the response to a limited lexical range. To improve, the writer should incorporate less common lexical items, pay closer attention to collocations, and minimize basic word-formation errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on simple sentences and basic compound forms. Attempts at complex structures are often faulty and accompanied by frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples of errors include missing auxiliary verbs and articles ('If an individual watching movie'), subject-verb agreement issues ('price of a cinemas ticket can lower'), and punctuation lapses like the comma splice in the introduction ('This essay will discuss both views, i completely agree'). These frequent grammatical errors cause some difficulty for the reader. To reach the next level, the writer must incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence patterns with good control, reducing basic errors in verb forms, articles, and agreement.
