Student answer (Band 4.5)

Many people say that theatres and cinemas are not important in the digital age because people can watch all the entertainment they want online, but some people believe that thratres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally. In this easy I will discuss both these views and given my own openion.

There are two main reason why I agree theatres and cinemas are not important nowadays. Firstly, people can watch all movies own mobiles or laptop. they donot need to go cinemas and pay for watch movie because after few days the movie will available on social media platforms. For example once a movie will relise 16 march 2026 and then after few day like 20 days later the movie will available on websides and social media so why people pay for watching movie. In addition, when people go to watch movie and then they need some snaks and water they go to shop and they see the prices of snaks almost three time double and cinemas are not allow to own snaks.

However, why I agree theatres and cinemas are important for economically and culturally. Firstly, when the movie relies on cinemas then the tickets sales and other sales have been profet from government that why cinemas are important for cuntry economy.

In conclusion, some people say cinemas and theatres are not important and many people say its are important. I can discuss my opinion like, after some time movies available on platforms, too much expansive snaks but cinemas are important for economy

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the task only partially. First, the length requirement is not met as the response contains only 238 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum (with 18 words copied directly from the task prompt excluded from the count). Furthermore, the student presents a contradictory position, stating in the introduction and body paragraph that they agree theatres and cinemas are no longer important, but then introducing a conflicting paragraph that argues why they are important. Ideas are limited, repetitive, and under-developed, particularly when discussing economic benefits, which lack clear explanations and relevant examples. To move to a higher band, the writer must ensure the word count exceeds the minimum, maintain a consistent and clear position throughout, and extend all main ideas with well-developed supporting points.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some basic organization with paragraph breaks and simple transition words like 'Firstly', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion', but the overall progression of ideas is lacking. The connection between paragraphs is weak, particularly in the third paragraph where the abrupt shift to discussing the economic importance of cinemas contradicts the earlier thesis without clear transitional phrasing. Furthermore, referencing is sometimes unclear, such as when pronouns like 'they' are used ambiguously without clear antecedents. Cohesive devices are basic and repetitive. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to ensure a logical flow of ideas throughout the essay, improve paragraph structuring so that each point transitions smoothly to the next, and use a wider variety of cohesive devices with greater precision.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, representing a limited range adequate only for familiar topics. There are noticeable spelling and word choice errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, such as 'thratres' instead of theatres, 'easy' instead of essay, 'openion' instead of opinion, 'own' instead of on, 'relise' instead of release, 'websides' instead of websites, 'snaks' instead of snacks, 'expansive' instead of expensive, and 'profet' instead of profit. To reach a higher band, the writer must expand their lexical range by incorporating less common vocabulary items and idiomatic language, while significantly improving spelling accuracy and precision in word choice and collocation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The writing displays a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent attempts at complex structures that contain severe errors. There are frequent grammatical errors in verb forms, tenses, article usage, plurals, and prepositions, such as 'people can watch all movies own mobiles or laptop', 'they donot need to go cinemas and pay for watch movie', 'cinemas are not allow to own snaks', and 'cinemas are important for cuntry economy'. Punctuation is also weak, with run-on sentences lacking appropriate punctuation marks. To improve to a next band level, the student needs to demonstrate a greater variety of complex sentence forms with improved control, reducing the frequency of basic grammatical errors that impede communication.
