Student answer (Band 5.5)

The modern era of humans is destined to bring the new versions of living in this planet. Specifically, entertainment industry is becoming terrific in bringing defferent ways of participating in such activites. There are certain people who fall in the category of the people who prefer staying at home and enjoy virtually, on the other hand, some believe in being present and sence the purity of live performances or better quality visuals with huge screens in the cinemas. I personally fancy availability and balance between both the forms.

The digital medium provides the benefit for physically challenged people who can not go outside but still can experience watching whatever they want from the vast categories provided by the ott platforms. People can watch many programs without paying dreadfull ticket prices for one particular show or live event. In the city like Mumbai, people gets tormented in crazy traffic jams, so they prefer staying at home enjoying watching anything with their family.

On the other hand, people still follow the traditional way of visting such places with their folks because they feel that just staying at home makes you depressive and lazy. The reasearch has also proved that the digital way of enjyoing cinemas and theatres has effected economically by bringing unemployment. If we physically attend and participate in such acitivities, we not only contribute in something good but we also stay connected with our culture and traditions.

Hence, there should be a balance between the availablity of such digital platforms with certain area in the vicinity occupied with cinemas and theatres, which is even perfect for your cute date.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the digital shift and the economic and cultural importance of physical venues, while also providing a personal opinion. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the points about physical accessibility and traffic congestion in Mumbai are relevant and clearly explained, whereas the arguments regarding cultural connection and economic impact lack sufficient extension and support. Your position is generally clear throughout the text, but exploring the economic consequences of online streaming in greater depth would help lift this criterion to the next level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing opposing views, and a concluding remark. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct themes. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing can occasionally be unclear, such as the abrupt transition in the final sentence. While cohesive devices like 'On the other hand' and 'Hence' are employed to guide the reader, achieving a smoother logical progression between sentences without relying on repetitive connective patterns would enhance the overall flow of the writing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

An adequate range of vocabulary is utilised to discuss entertainment mediums, including terms like 'virtually', 'ott platforms', and 'traditional way'. There are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as 'defferent' instead of 'different', 'activites' instead of 'activities', 'sence' instead of 'sense', and 'effeceted' instead of 'affected'. Furthermore, phrases like 'dreadfull ticket prices' and 'cute date' are somewhat informal or inaccurate in style. Addressing these spelling inaccuracies and expanding control over less common lexical items will significantly improve performance in this area.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures and relative clauses. There are several errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles ('In the city like Mumbai'), subject-verb agreement issues ('people gets tormented'), and preposition misuse ('enjoy virtually, on the other hand'). Although these errors persist, they rarely impede overall communication. To move towards higher bands, you should aim to increase the frequency of error-free complex sentences and maintain tighter control over articles and pluralisation.
