Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views on whether theatres and cinemas remain important alongside digital platforms, and presents a personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the treatment of the task remains limited and under-developed. While the student outlines the ease of online streaming and briefly touches upon older generations and cultural aspects, the ideas are basic and lack sufficient explanation or concrete examples. For instance, mentioning that '80% of people are liked entertainment from mobilephone' is an unsupported generalization, and the points about economic and cultural impact are repeated rather than extended. The position is discernible at the end, but the overall development is restricted due to limited elaboration and repetitive reasoning, placing it squarely within the expectations for a partial response where some aspects are left underdeveloped.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays some overall organization with a clear four-paragraph structure comprising an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression of ideas, and relationships between sentences are not always logically managed. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical or inaccurate manner, such as the repetitive use of 'Due to digital' or 'Due to theartres and cinemas' to introduce arguments. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and transitions between sentences can feel abrupt, which hinders the smooth flow of the text. Paragraphing is attempted with distinct topic breaks, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs suffers from repetitive phrasing and weak logical links, limiting the organizational clarity throughout the response.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, featuring basic and repetitive terms such as 'entertainment', 'movies', 'dramas', and 'digital age'. There are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling throughout the text, including 'convert in online' instead of converted online, 'most then' instead of more than, 'mobilephone' instead of mobile phone, and 'theathres'. The student attempts less common items like 'economically and culturally', but inaccurate word forms and collocations cause some difficulty for the reader and impede precise communication, reflecting a basic lexical range that frequently strains clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammatical range is quite limited, relying heavily on simple sentence structures and repetitive patterns. When the student attempts complex sentences, they are often faulty, as seen in structures like 'In young youth, people like watch everything online' or 'They like watch all things online.' There are frequent errors in verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions inside grammatical patterns, such as 'is increase day by day', 'Everyone person is used', and 'people are go more for watch'. These frequent errors require the reader to decode the meaning and can cause noticeable difficulty, though the core message remains just decipherable.
