Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that whether theatres and cinemas are still important or not. Some people argued that in the advanced age, theatres and cinemas are no longer crucial as individuals can access to all the entertainment that they want through the internet, whereas others believe that theatres and cinemas still have economic and traditional significance.
On the one hand, supporters of the first view claim that theatres and cinemas have lost their value because in the advance period time people have better option of internet for all type of the entertainment. They argue this because they feel its waste of their time to visit cinemas if they can watch all the entertainment stuff while sitting in their homes online. One clear advantage of this approach is that individuals can create an envirnment of theater and cinema by their own without going anywhere and have easy access to the entertainement remotely. For instance, people use projector to create the proper environment of cinemas.
On the other hand, opponent believe that theatres and cinemas are still essential both economically and culturally. Public have this view because cinemas and theaters play a significant role in the finance of a country. The particular example in this regard is in India, cinemas helps to generate a large amount of money. Moreover theatres is particular country represents their culture, values and way of life by their shows. From my prospective, this idea is more convincing because cinemas represents the culture and tradition of a country and help to grow it economically. Subsequently, the enjoyment that cinemas and theaters provides have seprate level because it provide more realistic image which makes this view more practical.
In conclusion, although both sides present valid arguments, I believe that cinemas and theaters have their own importants that only outgoing public can understand and also they have crucial role for finance and traditional representaion of a country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on the importance of theatres and cinemas in the digital age and clearly presenting a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is uneven. For instance, the first body paragraph mentions that people can create a home cinema environment using a projector, but this point remains somewhat superficial and under-developed. Similarly, the arguments regarding economic and cultural significance in the second body paragraph lack specific supporting details, as the mention of India is too brief. To reach a higher level, the ideas need to be more fully extended with deeper explanations and more comprehensive examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear organizational structure divided into four paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' are successfully employed to signal the transition between arguments. Nevertheless, referencing and cohesion are occasionally mechanical or faulty, seen in phrases like 'opponent believe' and 'this idea is more convincing.' Paragraphing is used sufficiently, but overall progression could be smoother with more varied and subtle cohesive links between sentences rather than relying on repetitive structures.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items and phrasing such as 'economic and traditional significance,' 'remotely,' and 'realistic image.' However, there are noticeable lexical and spelling inaccuracies that reflect a limited and developing resource. Examples include word-form and spelling issues such as 'envirnment' instead of environment, 'entertainement,' 'seprate level,' and 'importants' instead of importance. Additionally, awkward collocations like 'advance period time' and 'outgoing public' appear. These errors do not completely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score by causing occasional difficulty for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at varied syntactic structures through clauses connected by conjunctions and relative pronouns. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues such as 'Some people argued' and 'opponent believe,' missing articles like 'in particular country,' and prepositional or structural errors such as 'access to all the entertainment that they want through' and 'cinemas helps.' While these errors rarely completely impede communication, they are persistent enough to prevent the grammar score from advancing into higher bands.
