Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views on cinemas versus online streaming and provides a basic personal opinion. However, the treatment of the task remains limited and under-developed. While the writer touches on arguments regarding cost, comfort, and socialization, the ideas lack sufficient expansion and supportive details. For instance, points about social interaction and economic aspects are stated simply rather than fully explored. The position is visible towards the end, but the overall development suffers from fragmented thoughts and repetitive assertions. To move higher, the response would need to extend each viewpoint with well-developed explanations and specific examples, ensuring every part of the prompt receives thorough and balanced coverage.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

The text demonstrates significant issues with organization and paragraphing. There is a lack of clear overall progression, and ideas jump abruptly between points without smooth transitions, making the text difficult to follow. Paragraphing is highly irregular, with broken sentences and arbitrary line breaks that disrupt the flow of reading. Cohesive devices are either missing, inadequate, or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on 'and also' or 'on other side'. Pronoun referencing is often unclear, leaving the reader to guess what terms like 'they' or 'it' refer to. To achieve a higher standard, the writer must group related ideas into logical paragraphs, use a wider and more accurate range of cohesive links, and establish a clear progression of thought from the introduction through the arguments to the conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for expressing basic ideas. The writer attempts some less common terms and topic-related words, such as 'entertainment', 'perspective', and 'socialize', but these are often accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form, including 'circet' for tickets, 'avabilable', 'Cinemes', 'smact', 'moblie', and 'treaters'. These lexical inaccuracies and non-standard forms cause some difficulty for the reader and impede smooth communication. To progress, the student needs to expand their range of vocabulary, pay closer attention to correct spelling and word formation, and ensure that words are used in appropriate collocations and contexts.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is restricted, relying mostly on simple and faulty complex sentence structures. There are frequent errors in basic grammar, including subject-verb agreement issues such as 'every person have own screen' and 'cinemas are have', incorrect article usage, missing prepositions, and persistent punctuation flaws. Attempts at complex sentences often result in ungrammatical or run-on structures that obscure the meaning, such as 'It perfer to treaters to enjoy movies as it release and important to socalize themselve'. These frequent errors place a heavy burden on the reader. To improve, the writer must focus on mastering fundamental grammatical patterns, ensuring correct verb forms, pronouns, and pluralization, and constructing sentences with greater accuracy and control.
