Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the prompt minimally, attempting to discuss both views on cinemas and theatres versus online entertainment, along with a personal opinion. However, the ideas remain heavily restricted, underdeveloped, and confused throughout the text. For instance, the writer states that younger people prefer to watch movies on cinemas compared to elders, but then contradicts this by suggesting elders find cinemas beneficial. Furthermore, the arguments lack proper support and rely on repetitive assertions about technology rather than fully developed points. The position is stated, but the overall lack of clear, extended reasoning prevents the response from reaching a higher level of task achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

Information and ideas are not arranged coherently, leading to a lack of clear overall progression. Although paragraph breaks are used, the internal organization of paragraphs is weak and erratic. Sentences often feel disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is inadequate or inaccurate. For example, starting sentences abruptly with words like 'Because today is the era of new technology' or 'If they planned to watch movies' creates a fragmented reading experience. Additionally, referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult to follow the logical development of ideas from one sentence to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and at times strained. The student relies on simple, recurring terms such as 'digital age', 'technology', 'movies', and 'online' without demonstrating a broad enough range for effective expression. There are numerous word choice and word formation inaccuracies, such as 'imortant', 'benefical', 'occupation life', and awkward phrasing like 'consider like theatres'. These vocabulary errors and the narrow lexical repertoire restrict the precision of the message, though the general topic remains just about discernible to the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Grammatical structures are extremely limited, consisting mostly of short, simple sentences or faulty attempts at complex ones. Errors are frequent throughout the text, often distorting meaning or causing difficulty for the reader. There are persistent issues with verb forms, tense usage, and sentence boundaries, such as sentence fragments starting with subordinating conjunctions ('Because today is the era...', 'If they planned to watch movies. They had go to far away.'). Furthermore, problems with plurals, articles, and missing auxiliary verbs (e.g., 'They don't had a TV') demonstrate a very weak command of basic grammatical patterns.
