Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the task only partially, presenting a minimal word count that fails to meet the 250-word minimum requirement, as the response contains only 241 words. While the student attempts to discuss both views regarding the digital age affecting theaters and cinemas and provides a personal opinion, the ideas remain limited, repetitive, and under-developed. The position is stated but lacks clear supporting evidence or well-expanded arguments. For instance, the mention of cultural representation through dance and dress is introduced briefly without sufficient elaboration. To reach the next level, the writer must fully satisfy the minimum word count, extend and support all main ideas with relevant examples, and ensure a more fully developed discussion for both views and the personal stance.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organization with paragraphing used to separate distinct points, but the text lacks a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are sometimes inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on transitional phrases like 'To begin with' and 'To elaborate it', which are used mechanically. Referencing between ideas can also be unclear, making it difficult to follow the logical flow of the argument. For example, sentences like 'To explain it, if people starts to watch the movies and cinemas by online patforms due to that goverments and directors cannot get the money' create choppy connections. To improve cohesion, the writer should employ a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices naturally, ensure smooth transitions between sentences and paragraphs, and maintain a clear, logical progression throughout the essay.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors in spelling, word choice, and word formation that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. The student attempts less common vocabulary, but these attempts contain frequent inaccuracies, such as 'morden arc' instead of modern era, 'thearters', 'compelety', 'pierated', and 'drees'. Furthermore, collocation and lexical control are weak, as seen in phrases like 'chance for stop cinemas production' or 'out put the culture'. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to expand their lexical repertoire, improve spelling accuracy, and use words and collocations more precisely to convey meaning smoothly without causing strain for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The writer demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences, while attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in grammar, subject-verb agreement, and articles throughout the text, such as 'people starts', 'online patforms', and 'casue the economical problems'. Additionally, punctuation and prepositional patterns within clauses show frequent inaccuracies, as observed in 'watch moive form pierated websites'. Although communication is not completely obscured, these frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader. To progress, the student must incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence forms with good control, reduce basic grammatical mistakes, and carefully proofread verb forms, plurals, and sentence boundaries.
