Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the digital age, people have easy access to entertainment through the internet. Some people believe that theaters and cinemas are no longer important, while cultural value. This essay discusses both views and explains why i believe they are still important.
On the one hand, online entertainment is convient and affordable. People can watch films, shows and other content from their homes using platforms such as Netfix and You Tube. They can also choose what they want to watch and do so at any time. This is particularly usefuk for busy people who may not have enough time to visit a cinema. In addition, online services often provide a wide variety of entertainment at a relatively low cost.
On the other hand, theatres and cinemas continue to play an important role. Going to a cinema provides a social experience that cannot be completely replaced by watching a film alone at home. People can spend time with friends and family while enjoing a movie on a large screen. Thaetres are also important for culture because they allow people to experience live performances, music and traditional art.
In my opinion, online entertainment is becoming more popular because it is conveninent, but cinemas and theatres will remain valuable. They provide unique social and cultural experiences that online platforms cannot fully offer.
Overall, both forms of entertainment can consist successfully.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the decline of traditional venues and their ongoing economic and cultural importance, while also presenting a clear position. However, some ideas are under-developed, particularly the introduction which contains a truncated sentence fragment ('while cultural value'). The main body paragraphs introduce relevant points regarding convenience and social experiences, but these arguments could be extended further with more detailed examples. Additionally, it must be noted that the response falls short of the minimum length requirement, containing 226 words instead of the required 250, which impacts the overall completeness of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response achieves a coherent overall arrangement and fully meets the requirements of the lower band while showing part of the next. Ideas are logically sequenced, moving from online entertainment to physical venues, and concluding with a clear personal stance. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to structure the essay. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'In addition', and 'On the other hand' are employed to guide the reader through the text. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally mechanical or slightly repetitive, preventing the response from reaching a higher band level.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying the intended meaning. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items such as 'convenient', 'affordable', and 'traditional art'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, including 'convient', 'Netfix', 'You Tube', 'usefuk', 'enjoing', and 'Thaetres'. Furthermore, the phrase 'consist successfully' in the conclusion is an awkward collocation and should be 'coexist successfully'. These lexical errors show a limited control over spelling and word forms, placing the lexical resource at this level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like relative clauses and conditional ideas appropriately. There are several error-free sentences, such as 'People can watch films, shows and other content from their homes using platforms such as Netflix and YouTube.' However, some errors in grammar persist, such as the lowercase 'i' in 'i believe' and minor structural lapses. Punctuation and sentence construction are generally controlled well enough that they rarely impede communication, reflecting a solid command of basic and moderately complex grammar.
