Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response responds to the task only minimally and fails to meet the word count requirement, coming in at 236 words instead of the minimum 250 words. While the writer attempts to discuss both views regarding the role of digital entertainment versus traditional theatres and cinemas, the ideas remain very limited and under-developed. The introduction sets up an awkward framing, and the conclusion is abruptly cut off mid-sentence, leaving the writer's own opinion underdeveloped and incomplete. The arguments provided, such as mentioning the country's economy or family joy, lack sufficient explanation and relevant supporting examples from the writer's own knowledge or experience. To reach a higher level, the writer must fully develop all parts of the prompt with extended ideas, maintain a clear position throughout, and ensure the full word length is satisfied.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response displays some organisation, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas throughout the essay. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence ('Furthermore, social interaction'), demonstrating a breakdown in structural control. Cohesive devices are used minimally or inaccurately, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the confusing transition into the second body paragraph ('On the others hand'). While the overall arrangement attempts to follow an essay structure with an introduction and body paragraphs, the mechanical transitions and lack of logical flow hinder readability. To improve, the writer should use cohesive devices more accurately and naturally, ensure every paragraph is fully completed with a logical conclusion, and establish clear logical links between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors that frequently cause difficulty for the reader. There are numerous spelling, word choice, and word formation errors throughout the text, such as 'nowaday' instead of nowadays, 'prople's' instead of people's, 'belive' instead of believe, 'degital' instead of digital, 'Tous' instead of This, 'discussion' instead of discuss, 'iwn' instead of own, 'developmnt' instead of development, and 'cinéma'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, but inaccurate collocations and persistent spelling mistakes constrain the lexical range. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to expand their vocabulary range, pay closer attention to word spelling and word forms, and use terms with greater precision and stylistic awareness.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer uses a very limited range of structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors, incorrect verb forms, punctuation mistakes, and missing spaces after punctuation marks throughout the text, such as 'technology becomes vital in prople's life that has emerged' and 'when people are busy and can not reach different movies, digital resources assist them'. Articles and prepositions are also handled inconsistently, and sentence boundaries are sometimes blurred. These persistent errors cause noticeable difficulty for the reader in following the intended meaning. To progress, the writer must incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence forms with accurate control, ensure correct subject-verb agreement and article usage, and carefully proofread to eliminate frequent grammatical inaccuracies.
