In my opinion, online entertainment s more convenient, theaters and cinemas are still valuable to society.

On the one hand, online entertainment has reduced the need of people to visit cinemas and theaters. Nowadays, people can watch flims, television programmes and live shows from their comfort zone. Streaming platforms provide large variety of content to watch at rellatively low price, and viewers can choose what they want to watch at any time. This is particularly convenient for busy lifestyles. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that cinemas are no longer important due to online entertainment and that they remain economically and culturally vital—and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the length requirement is not met, as the response contains 223 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum. While the ideas presented are relevant, some parts of the response remain under-developed and limited in scope, lacking extended supporting examples. For instance, the economic role of cinemas is mentioned briefly without deep elaboration. To reach a higher band, the response must meet the minimum word count and extend the arguments with more fully developed explanations and specific examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression throughout the paragraphs. The response is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs discussing opposing views, and a brief conclusion, which shows that paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore' are employed to guide the reader through the arguments, though referencing and transitions can occasionally feel slightly mechanical. To progress further into higher bands, the writer could make cohesive devices less obtrusive and ensure seamless logical transitions between all sentences and ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with enough range to communicate basic ideas about entertainment and technology. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'streaming platforms', 'social interaction', and 'economically and culturally', but there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word forms. Examples include spelling errors like 'rellytively' and 'eleminate', as well as grammatical word form slips like 'econome' instead of economy. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to restrict the score. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to incorporate a wider range of sophisticated, less common lexical items with precise control over spelling and word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some attempt at complex structures such as concessive clauses using 'While' and 'although'. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly involving articles, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions. Examples of errors include 'In digital ag' instead of 'In the digital age', 'cinemas has' instead of 'cinemas have', and missing articles before singular countable nouns like 'large screen'. These errors can occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader. To reach the next band, the writer should increase the proportion of error-free sentences and demonstrate better control over articles, plurals, and structural agreements.
