Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some people argue that, in this digital age, theatres and cinemas have become unnecessary because entertainment is available online, while others believe that watching films in a cinema is an important expeirence. I believe that watching films in cinema is more beneficial than watching them online.
On the one hand, watching films has become easy because they are available online. Many streaming platforms like netflix, prime videos offer several movies to watch as an entertainment. It is a great innovation as it offers people to watch films at all times and rather than visiting theatres at particular hours. This is very beneficial as it doesnt require people to step out of their houses to go to nearby theatres at particular time.
On the other hand, experiencing films in the theatres in another level of entertainment. Watching films on the big screen provides great provides a great movie experiance with great visual and sound quality. Dedicating few hours of the day without any noise or distraction gives us a real movie experience. I believe its really important to expeirence the film in big screen rather than watching them online.
In conclusion, although people find it easy to watch films online, i believe it's really important to experience watching them on the big screen in the theatres.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses the prompt only partially, which is compounded by a failure to meet the minimum word count requirement, as the text contains only 215 words instead of the required 250. While you briefly mention both views regarding the role of cinemas versus online streaming platforms, your discussion of the economic and cultural importance of theatres is largely superficial. Your own opinion is stated, but the ideas remain limited and under-developed throughout the essay without sufficient extension or supporting examples. To reach a higher level, you need to write more extensively and ensure that both sides of the argument, particularly the economic and cultural aspects, are fully explored with detailed explanations and relevant examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organization present in the essay, with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing each viewpoint, and a conclusion. However, the progression is not entirely clear, and cohesive devices are somewhat repetitive or basic, relying heavily on transitions like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear or mechanical. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical flow within paragraphs needs strengthening to guide the reader more smoothly. To improve this criterion, you should use a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that each paragraph builds logically upon the previous one with clear conceptual links.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic ideas, such as 'streaming platforms', 'visual and sound quality', and 'entertainment'. However, there are noticeable spelling mistakes, such as 'expeirence' and 'expeirence', alongside repetitive word choices like 'films', 'watching', and 'entertainment' appearing frequently throughout the text. There are also minor capitalization and word choice issues, such as writing 'netflix' without a capital letter. To achieve a higher score, you should incorporate a wider and more flexible range of less common lexical items, pay closer attention to spelling and word forms, and avoid repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, with attempts at complex sentences often resulting in errors. For instance, phrases like 'It is a great innovation as it offers people to watch films at all times and rather than visiting theatres' contain awkward phrasing and grammatical flaws. There are frequent errors in articles, prepositions, and punctuation, such as 'in theatres' or lowercase pronouns like 'i'. While these errors do not completely obscure your meaning, they are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve, you should incorporate a wider variety of error-free complex sentence structures and carefully check your articles and verb patterns.
