Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt partially by discussing both views on the importance of theatres and cinemas versus online streaming, and includes an opinion. However, the ideas are quite limited and under-developed throughout the essay. For instance, the discussion on economic and cultural impacts mentions that cinemas show the 'culture of the community' and help the economy through ticket sales, but these points are repetitive and lack specific elaboration or clear examples. The position is stated rather than fully explored, reflecting a limited development of ideas where points tend to be generalised rather than thoroughly supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organisation with attempts at paragraphing and logical sequencing, though overall progression lacks clarity. The essay is divided into an introduction, body paragraphs addressing both sides, and a conclusion. However, cohesive devices are often inaccurate or mechanical, such as 'While other argue that', 'Furtehrmore', and 'Onn the other hand, some people depite that still significant'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and transitions between sentences can feel abrupt, which disrupts the flow of the argument. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion requires better control to ensure a smoother progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'economically', 'culturally', and 'significant', but there are frequent noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling. Examples include 'DIgital age', 'calim', 'Furtehrmore', 'depite', 'wherease', and 'benefecial'. These lexical errors and awkward collocations cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted range of vocabulary that frequently hinders precise communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The text displays a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent attempts at complex forms that are often faulty. There are persistent errors in grammar, punctuation, and articles, such as 'cinemas are no l further important', 'people watches online movies', 'Because peoples have not time they watch the movie cinema', and 'when release trailer of any movie people buy it'. Subject-verb agreement errors, missing prepositions, and incorrect verb tenses appear frequently throughout the response, causing considerable difficulty and requiring effort from the reader to parse the meaning.
