Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some individuals believe that in the digital world, live theatres and cinemas are no longer important as people can see the all the entertainment activities they want online. Other argue that theaters and cinemas are still prominent financially and socially. In this essay I will discuss both perespective and I give my personal opinion.

To begin, some people think that in modern days both cinemas and theatres are not usefull because they say that people are now moving on social media. Furthermore, they agree that now cinemas and theatre closed because people are not intersested to buying tickets and watching on platform. For example, people argue that digital technology is important while the old argue. Lastly, persons are not interesting in these types thing then they chosed watching these thing on internet.

Secondly, Other persons say that theatres and cinemas are now very useful both ecnomically and culturally. Because in past years both provide lot of entertainment and financial. They also believe that in modern days our responsibilitiy is we are saving our culture. For example, if technology win this race then the result provides lots of artist will become unemployed. Endly, I think government should take lots of initiate and save our culture then in every country becomes produced legends artist.

In my opinion, I think it is correct theatres and cinemas is our tradition. We are able to save our culture because after some years people are moving back to go and watch cinemas.

Sum up, both types of people provide their own views and they expalin their pros and cons. I think in modern days cinemas and theatre still significant while comparing internet.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially. While the student does discuss both views regarding the importance of theatres and cinemas in the digital age and attempts to give a personal opinion, the ideas are quite limited, repetitive, and under-developed. For instance, the first body paragraph touches upon the idea of people shifting to social media and online platforms, but the explanation remains vague and disjointed, using repetitive phrasing such as 'people argue' and 'these types thing'. Furthermore, 10 words copied directly from the task prompt were excluded from the official word count, though the final count successfully reaches the minimum requirement. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to present well-developed main ideas with clearer explanations and more relevant, fully elaborated examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response displays some basic organisation with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas throughout the essay. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, as seen with transitional phrases like 'To begin', 'Secondly', and 'Endly'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal flow of sentences within paragraphs lacks logical links, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument smoothly. Pronoun referencing and substitution are also mishandled at times, creating mechanical transitions. Achieving a higher band would require a clearer logical structure where each paragraph builds systematically on the previous one, alongside a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task. The writer relies heavily on basic, repetitive words and experiences frequent lexical errors that often cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of awkward word choice, incorrect word forms, and collocation issues include 'see the all the entertainment activities', 'theatres and theatre closed', 'intersested to buying', and 'legends artist'. There are also minor spelling slips such as 'usefull' and 'ecnomically'. To improve this score, the student must expand their lexical repertoire, learn accurate word forms and collocations, and pay closer attention to spelling and precise vocabulary related to the prompt's theme.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is quite limited, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentence forms that are frequently faulty. The student makes frequent errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text that can cause difficulty for the reader, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('theatres and cinemas is', 'person are not interesting'), incorrect article usage ('the cinemas'), and awkward prepositional or clausal structures ('then in every country becomes produced legends artist'). Complex structures lack control. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to demonstrate a greater variety of sentence structures with a much higher proportion of error-free sentences and better command of basic grammatical rules.
