Student answer (Band 5.0)

Since in this era many peoples beleive that time is more important so,we should not waste time .However, some peoples said we should go outside for fresh our mind and also spend time with our family and friends. People have different opinion and prespective. Now a days students are busy in their studies so, they have no time for spending the time in this type of activities.

According to my opinion,i think theatres and cinemas are still important in our society.Cinemas and theatres play an important role in our country. Moreover it is the key of betterment of our economic. It is still important both culturally and economically.Furthermore,it represent our culture. For instance,I was going outside with my family last weekend. After one hour when we were outside my father said lets go,.in cinema it was the first time when i see cinema.Their decore ,enviroment shows our culture and its looks so amaze.

Moreover,it is the way we spend time with our family and freinds. We share things and ate food together. In another hand mostly people spend time with your ownself. Now a days study gives more demand that,s why they have no time for spending or for going outside. They prefer to watch all entertainment in online apps like youtube, instagram, facebook, twitter e.t.c.They spend their leisure time in online activities. They were chatting with their friends and scrolling reels.

In conclusion, both have different benefits and advantages . Cimemas support our country financially ,represent our culture and the way to spending time with our loveable families.Another hand it is the waste of time that,s why mostly people like to spend time in home or watching online.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially. While the writer attempts to discuss both views regarding the role of theatres and cinemas in the digital age and offers a personal opinion, the ideas remain limited and under-developed. The position is stated but lacks consistent support, relying on repetitive assertions rather than deep elaboration. For instance, the argument that cinemas support the economy and culture is introduced briefly without detailed examples or thorough explanation. The personal narrative about visiting a cinema lacks relevance to the broader economic and cultural arguments required by the prompt. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to extend their ideas fully, providing robust arguments and clear, relevant examples for both perspectives before presenting a well-developed personal view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response shows some organization with basic paragraphing, but there is no clear overall progression throughout the essay. While transitional markers such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are utilized, cohesive devices are often mechanical, inaccurate, or over-used, which disrupts the flow of ideas. For example, 'In another hand' and 'Another hand' are used incorrectly for contrast. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as when pronouns like 'they' shift referents abruptly between students, people, and families. To improve coherence and progress to higher bands, the writer must ensure a logical progression of ideas from sentence to sentence and employ a wider, more accurate range of cohesive devices without relying on repetitive transitional phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'perspective', 'betterment', and 'environment', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as 'peoples', 'prespective', 'decore', and 'amaze'. Spelling errors also occur frequently, including 'beleive', 'ate' (used for eaten), and 'Cimemas'. These lexical inaccuracies and non-standard forms cause some difficulty for the reader and impede smooth communication. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, use word forms correctly, and pay close attention to spelling and natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying primarily on simple sentences alongside basic, repetitive complex structures. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader. Issues include frequent subject-verb agreement errors, incorrect verb tenses (such as mixing past and present inappropriately in the personal example: 'I was going outside... when i see cinema'), missing articles, and awkward punctuation throughout. For example, sentences often lack proper spacing after commas or misuse conjunctions like 'so'. To progress, the writer needs to demonstrate a greater variety of complex sentence forms with good control over punctuation, verb tenses, and grammatical accuracy.
