Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

Your response sits at this level because it only minimally addresses the task, touching upon both views and your own opinion in a very brief introduction, but failing to properly discuss or support either side. Crucially, the response does not meet the minimum length requirement of 250 words, stopping at just 111 words. Because the text is severely under length, the ideas remain heavily under-developed and limited. To move towards a higher band, you must write at least 250 words and fully extend your arguments with detailed explanations and relevant examples for both perspectives on theatres and cinemas versus online entertainment.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

At this level, the writing shows some basic organization, including a clear introduction that outlines the opposing views and your stance. However, there is no clear overall progression across the essay because the body paragraphs are extremely short and abruptly end without developing further ideas. Paragraphing is also an issue, as the main body consists of a single clump of sentences rather than distinct paragraphs for each view. To improve, you need to structure your essay into clear, distinct paragraphs and use a wider variety of accurate cohesive devices to link your sentences and ideas smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary range is limited and minimally adequate for the task, featuring basic and repetitive word choices such as 'online entertainment', 'convenient', and 'movies'. There are noticeable lexical issues and unnatural word formations, such as the incorrect prepositional use in 'available at homes' instead of 'available at home'. While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding your general point, they show a lack of precision. To achieve a higher score, you should attempt a broader range of less common vocabulary and pay closer attention to natural collocations and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The grammar demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent errors. There are notable mistakes in pluralisation and noun forms, such as 'Peoples can watch', where the plural 'people' is incorrectly treated with an 's'. Additionally, sentences like 'A variety of movies and programmes can be available at online' show awkward phrasing and unnecessary prepositions. Frequent basic errors cause some difficulty for the reader and indicate that your control over sentence patterns is still developing. To improve, you need to practice forming more complex sentences while ensuring your control over basic agreements and verb forms is accurate.
