Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

First, it must be noted that the response falls short of the minimum length requirement, containing 231 words, with 66 words copied directly from the prompt left uncounted. Regarding task fulfillment, the response addresses the prompt minimally and partially. The introduction attempts to state both views and a personal opinion, but the position is not always clearly sustained throughout the essay. Ideas are limited and under-developed, relying heavily on repetition rather than extension. For instance, the arguments regarding online streaming and economic impacts are stated simply without strong supporting evidence or specific elaboration. To reach a higher band, the writer must ensure the word count exceeds the minimum threshold and fully develop each viewpoint with well-supported, relevant ideas rather than repetitive phrasing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response shows some basic organisation with paragraph breaks representing different sections of the essay, such as the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical and repetitive manner, such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand', but referencing and transitions within paragraphs are often faulty. For example, sentences like 'To giving the classic example' and 'To put into nutshell' display inaccurate cohesive phrasing. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical flow of information needs significant improvement. To progress, the writer must use a wider range of cohesive devices accurately and ensure each paragraph develops a single, coherent theme with smooth logical links between sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, which restricts the depth of the response. The writer relies heavily on basic words and phrases borrowed directly from the prompt or frequently repeats terms such as 'entertainment', 'theatres', and 'cinemas'. There are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'belive' instead of believe, 'curcial' instead of crucial, 'easyly' instead of easily, 'throw' instead of through, 'insted' instead of instead, 'conseqently' instead of consequently, 'spand' instead of spend, 'tickit' instead of ticket, and 'marrit' instead of merit. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a basic lexical range. To improve, the writer needs to expand their vocabulary range, learn correct word spellings, and practice precise word choice for academic contexts.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on simple sentences and faulty attempts at complex forms. Frequent grammatical errors are present throughout the text, involving articles, verb forms, prepositions, and plurals. Examples of grammatical errors include 'Its often argued that the some people say', 'Current era have more advance online platform', 'people can watch easyly to anything throw internet', 'many of the people can use watching entertainment', 'When people go to the theatres and cinemas and spand their money', and 'they grow their country economic'. These frequent errors can cause strain and difficulty for the reader in understanding the intended meaning. To move up, the writer must work on basic grammatical accuracy, subject-verb agreement, and correct verb tense usage across a wider variety of sentence structures.
