Student answer (Band 5.5)

IT IS UNDENIBLE FACT THAT IN THIS HECTIC ROUTINE ERA,ENTERTAINMENT SUCH AS MOVIES ARE ONE OF THE MAIN SOURCE WHICH REJUIATE HUMAN'S MIND AT GREATER EXTEND.LIKEWISE,FEW INDIVIDUALS ARGUE THAT OWING WITH ADVANCEMENT IN TECHNOLOGY EVERYTHING WHICH THE PEOPLE WANT LIKE MOVIES, CAN WATCH ONLINE INSTEAD OF CINEMAS BUT OTHERS BELIVES THAT THEATRES ARE STILL CRUCIAL AS IT IS CONTRIBUTES IN ECONOMIC AS WELL AS CULTURE GROWTH. THIS ESSAY INTENDS TO ANALYSIS BOTH VIEW VIEW THAT I AM GOING TO DISCUSS AND CLARRIFY MY OPINION IN UPCOMING PARAGRAPHS.

TO COMMENCE WITH, THERE ARE MULTIFARIOUS REASONS BEHIND WHY CINEMAS NO LONGER NEEDED. FIRST AND FOREMOST, EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN ELECTRICAL GADGETS WITH UNLIMITED INTERNET BY WHICH CAN WATCH ANY NEW AND OLD MOVIES WITHOUT MOVING HERE AND THERE.FOR INSTANCE, INDIVIDUALS CAN ENJOY ANYWHERE LIKE IN OFFICE, HOME, WHILE TRAVELLING WITHOUT WASTING 2 TO 3 HOURS AT SAME PLACE.MOVING AHEAD, IT MAY HELP IN WASTAGE IN MONEY BECAUSE MOST OF THE PUBLIC SPEND LARGE CHUNK OF MONEY ON INTERNET .SO, IF THEY ALSO GO TO CINEMA FOR THEIR ENTERTAINMENT IT IS COMPLETELY MONEY WASTAGE. FOR EXAMPLE, ACCORDING TO RECENT SURVEY,MANY PEOPLE BOYCOTT CINEMAS DUE TO THEIR OWN NETWORK BY WHICH PLACES OF ENTERTAINMENT SUFFERS FROM HUGE LOSS.

ON THE FLIPSIDE, WHY CINEMAS ARE STILL NEEDED. FIRSTLY, IN THIS MODERN ERA NOONE HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO GO OUT AND SPEND SOME QUALITY TIME THEIR FAMILIES THEN THIS WILL BECOME THEM SIT TOGETHER . AS A RESULT,THEY CAN INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER AND HELP IN REMOVE ALL STRESS.FURTHERMORE,CINEMAS ARE STILL IMPORTANT AS IF PEOPLE GO TO CINEMA WATCH MOVIES THEN ALL REVENUE THATS GENERATED GOES TO CULTURE.

TO RECAPITULATE, I REITERATE ALTHOUGH IN THIS ERA EVERYONE HAVE THEIR OWN ELECTRIC DEVICES BUT CINEMAS ARE STILL IMPORTANT BEACAUSE IT HELP TO SPEND SOME TIME FROM THEIR BUSY SCHEDULE WITH FAMILY .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the discussion and state a preference for cinemas in the conclusion, so the response is relevant to the task. The online-entertainment view is supported with convenience and cost arguments, including watching while travelling and avoiding cinema expenses. However, the opposing view is less fully explained: spending time with family is a social benefit, but the claim that cinema revenue “goes to culture” does not clearly explain its economic or cultural contribution. Your position is also not explicit until the conclusion, and the introduction mainly announces what the essay will do. Develop each side with clearer explanations or examples, and state your opinion directly from the beginning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a concluding paragraph. Signposts such as “To commence with,” “On the flipside,” and “To recapitulate” help readers identify the stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow because ideas are joined mechanically or their links are unclear. For example, the move from having internet access to “wastage in money” is not fully explained, and the family-time point shifts abruptly to cinema revenue. Some references, such as “this” in “then this will become them sit together,” are unclear. Use simpler links between each claim and its explanation, and make sure each paragraph develops one central line of reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “advancement in technology,” “unlimited internet,” “revenue,” and “boycott cinemas.” This shows an effort to discuss convenience, cost, and cultural value rather than relying only on basic terms. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation, word forms, and spelling are frequent enough to make some sentences difficult to understand. Examples include “reju(i)ate human’s mind,” “at greater extend,” “money wastage,” and “culture growth”; several expressions do not convey the intended meaning naturally. Repeated use of broad terms such as “important” and “people” also limits precision. Prioritise accurate, natural phrases and check spelling and word forms before trying to use more elaborate vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “by which,” and “although.” This gives the response some structural variety. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction can make meaning unclear. For instance, “noone have enough time” has an agreement problem, while “it help to spend some time” does not use the verb form correctly. The sentence beginning “First and foremost” also lacks a clear grammatical structure around “by which can watch.” Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, with long sentences joined without clear boundaries. Build accuracy first with shorter complete sentences, then add subordinate clauses and check each subject–verb pairing.
