Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's world, a considerable proportion of population believe that theatres and cinemas are not important as they were in past. While some people argue that these all are still neseccary because they play beneficial role in economical and cultural. Others believe that due to easy access of internet at home you can enjoy online. This essay will critically dicuss both perspectives before explaining why I believe that cinemas and theatres are not impoortant at all.

On the one hand, there are several convincing arguments in favour of importance of the digital age, theatres and cinemas. The primary reason is that visiting these places lead to the economical and cultural growth. The is mainly because when a huge ratio of people visit big screening areas it can cause the advertisement of these and people from all around the country start visiting it. Furthermore, many cinema halls show that type of things which has also cultural hold and there culture does not extint. For example, in pakistan's cinemas they only show traditional movies and dramas. Consequently, many people started to follow their country culture. Therefore, the supporter of this view believe that if there will be decline in the percent of population in theatres and cinemas then it will significantly leads to their cultural and economical decearse.

On the other hand, there are also arguments supporting the idea that theatres are totally waste of time and money. The main rationale behind this is that in todays world people ha easy access on social platforms on which they can watch all new dramas and shows. This can be practiculary beneficial and safer because there are no travel expensives and any embarras feeling which mainly people faced at public areas. In other words, some people are introvert they can not even talk to other people easily and feel anxious. Moreover, there are also many apps on which you can watch new movies by doing online payment. For instance, in pakistan Netflix and Amazon are two apps which a significant ratio of people use for watching dramas or even podcasts. Thid demostrates that watching online can more entertaining and enjoyable.

In consulsion, Both watching onling and attending cinemas or theathers show valid merits. Nevertheless, I am on the opinion that watching home is safest and easiest way of enteraining youself. This can lead to low time consuming and saving money rather than spending on unnessecary things.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear opinion: the first body paragraph presents economic and cultural reasons for keeping cinemas, while the second argues that online viewing is more convenient, and the conclusion supports watching at home. These points are relevant to the question. However, some are not fully explained. For example, the claim that cinemas promote economic growth through advertising and visitors is difficult to follow, and the Pakistan example does not clearly show how cinema attendance preserves culture. The opposing view is more developed through convenience, cost and anxiety in public spaces, but the essay could weigh these benefits against cinemas’ cultural and economic roles more explicitly. Develop each main claim with a clearer explanation and a specific, directly relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the discussion. Within paragraphs, however, some links are mechanical or unclear. For instance, “The is mainly because” does not clearly connect to the preceding claim, and the chain from cinema attendance to advertising, tourism and cultural preservation is hard to follow. References such as “these” and “there” in the first body paragraph also leave the reader unsure what is meant. Use more precise referencing and make each sentence build logically on the previous one, rather than relying mainly on standard transition phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “digital age,” “cultural growth,” “social platforms,” “introvert,” and “online payment.” This gives you enough language to discuss both sides, but inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make ideas difficult to understand. Examples include “importance of the digital age, theatres and cinemas,” “a huge ratio of people,” “cultural hold,” and “watching onling.” Several words are also misspelled, such as “neseccary,” “practicullary,” and “decearse.” Aim for natural combinations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “cinema attendance,” “local film industry,” and “streaming services” would help express your points clearly and appropriately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “which,” and “if,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and verb forms occur across the response. For example, “visiting these places lead” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “people ha easy access on social platforms” contains an incomplete verb form and an incorrect grammatical pattern. The conditional sentence “if there will be decline … then it will significantly leads” also shows problems with conditional structure and verb agreement. Some sentences are difficult to process because several errors occur together. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then check agreement, articles and verb forms when using longer clauses.
