Student answer (Band 5.5)
Many people believe that in the world today cinemas are no longer important and people can watch all the entertainment online though others believe that cinemas are still important. Although i believe that cinemas and theatres are no longer a better option compared to watching it online.
For most millenial people cinemas and theatres hold an intrinsic value. As it presents a sense of belonging culturally, and provides enough economic opportunities to the masses as well. When it comes to the cultural belonging-ness of theatres its been long enough that it exists even before our generation exists. Economically, though it provides a huge chunk of opportunities for people who are in seach of jobs, from being waiter to the cashier or the staff at the counter everybody got the opportunity due the presence of cinemas and theatres.
Though, when it comes to the view of no importance of cinemas and theatres as all entertainment can be watched online is something i would highly agree with. As for everything available online it provides individuals so much leverage from watching anything and everything from the comfort of their homes. Platforms like that of Netflix and Amazon Prime provides so much in just one place that one don't need to go through the hassle of all that theatre process from booking the seat to standing at the counter in the
waiting lines then after movie ends there is crowd as well that would lead to traffic congestion and eventually causes delays in so many things. That's also one of the benefit of availability of watching everything online.
In conclusion, as people believe that cinemas and theatres are no longer important and others believe that cinemas are important economically and culturally. I strongly believe that if entertainment can be watched online there's no better replacement to that.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both perspectives and make your preference for online entertainment clear, especially in the third paragraph. The points about cultural value and employment show relevant understanding of the opposing view, while convenience and avoiding queues support your own position. However, the discussion is uneven: the cultural argument is asserted rather than illustrated, and the economic point is limited mainly to cinema jobs. Your opening also says cinemas are “no longer a better option,” which does not clearly establish whether you think they remain important in other ways. Develop each side with a specific example and explain how it supports your view; this would make the response more complete and the position clearer throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main topics. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and linking is repetitive or awkward. For example, the second paragraph moves from cultural belonging to employment without a clear transition, while “Though” begins the next paragraph but does not create a precise contrast. The conclusion largely repeats the introduction rather than drawing the discussion together. Use clearer topic sentences, organise each paragraph around one main idea, and connect examples explicitly to that idea. Check that pronouns such as “it” have an unmistakable reference.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “intrinsic value,” “economic opportunities,” “comfort of their homes,” and “traffic congestion.” These choices help communicate the main ideas. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “cultural belonging-ness,” “a huge chunk of opportunities,” and “theatre process.” There are also spelling and word-form errors, including “millenial” and “seach,” which reduce precision. Aim for natural collocations and more exact wording when discussing cultural significance, employment, and convenience. Replacing informal or unclear phrases with precise alternatives would make the argument easier to follow and more appropriate for an academic essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer structures, including “Although I believe…” and the sentence beginning “As for everything available online…,” but complex sentences are often incomplete or difficult to control. The opening uses “Although” without completing a contrasting clause, and “As it presents…” is a fragment. Agreement errors also occur in “Platforms … provides” and “one don’t need.” Other problems include missing or incorrect articles and punctuation, as in “from being waiter to the cashier” and the run-on sentence around “That’s also one of the benefit.” Use a wider range of complete sentence patterns, but keep clauses manageable; then check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
