Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You introduce both sides of the debate, noting that online viewing offers alternatives and that theatres and cinemas remain important for cultural and economic reasons. However, the response develops only the case for watching films at home; the opposing view is mentioned but not explained, and there is no clear personal opinion or supporting example. The discussion therefore addresses the task only partially, with ideas remaining limited and under-developed. The response also falls short of the required minimum length, leaving too little space to discuss both views and give a reasoned conclusion. To improve, explain a specific cultural or economic benefit of cinemas, state which view you support, and support each main point with an example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The opening establishes the topic and signals a contrast with “But,” and the next paragraph begins to explain how technology has changed viewing habits. This gives the response some basic organisation. However, the progression stops before the second viewpoint is developed, and there is no concluding paragraph to bring the discussion together or state your position. Connections between ideas are also limited: “Moreover” adds a point, but the relationship between affordability, improved quality, and the task’s cultural and economic arguments is not made clear. Use separate paragraphs for each view and a final paragraph for your opinion, with linking phrases that show how each point supports the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “digital age,” “alternatives,” “industry,” “quality,” and “affordable,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or imprecise, such as “not more important,” “according to their culture and expenses,” and “work has gotten reliable.” These expressions make parts of the argument difficult to interpret. There are also spelling and presentation slips, including “beleive,” “move,” and “PEople.” Aim for more precise phrases suited to the topic, such as “less important,” “cultural and economic value,” and “technology has become more accessible.” Proofreading will help make your vocabulary clearer and more consistent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response includes both simple statements and attempts at longer structures, for example the opening contrast and the sentence beginning “In the age of technology where…”. This shows some effort to vary sentence forms. However, the longer constructions are often faulty, and errors in tense, agreement, articles, and sentence structure recur. For instance, “Years before, people have to pay” does not use a consistent past-time form, while “a lot changes have been made” has an agreement problem. The sentence about technology and people’s work is also difficult to follow grammatically. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “while,” or “although.”
