Student answer (Band 5.0)

Recently, people believe that the cinemas and theatres are now become the part of the past as everyone has phones and have access to the internet and can watch the entertainment they want online from their homes. While some disagree with this and believe that theatres and cinimas are part of the culture and has good impact on economy. And I totally agree with the first statement. The arguments of both groups are explained in detail below along with the conclusion.

Our lifestyle and daily activities makes us so busy that now we dont find time for ourselves to go watch a movie in a cinema and have fun with our love ones. Specially in urban areas, individuals working all day to survive, and honestly in recent era, recession make. It even worse for middle class to get some time for themselves. I will give u example from my own experience, I myself recently shifted from Peshawar to Islamabad, and here I cannot find any time for outing adn other activites to enjoy. In a nutshel it can be an individual perspective on lifestyle and daily activites cause this gap between entertainment industry and the audience.

However, their is still a group of individual's that believe, cinimas are part of our culture and important for economy as well. Well I partially agree to this as well the era of theatres and cinimas will always be missed but unfortunately it is now no more relevent as we can access to it from our homes. And the Entertainment industry also realise this issue and they themselves are shifting to the digital side, For example when a movie releases, from day one we can watch it on Netflex.

It can be concluded that, now in this digital era, everyone has access to the internet and everyone can access the cinima from their bed, and I believe this is the positive invention of human kind.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You present a clear preference for online entertainment, especially in the opening and conclusion, and you attempt to discuss both views. However, the response only partially addresses the question: the case for cinemas’ and theatres’ economic and cultural importance is acknowledged but not explained with supporting reasons or examples. The main argument for online viewing focuses on busy lifestyles and your move between cities, rather than developing how digital access has changed entertainment more broadly. The example that films can appear on Netflix from release day is relevant, but it needs explanation and accuracy. To strengthen the response, develop each side with specific points—for example, employment and tourism, shared cultural experiences, convenience, or lower costs—and make your position consistent throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposting such as “However” helps indicate a change of view. Nevertheless, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes unclear. The first body paragraph moves from busy lifestyles to recession and then to your personal relocation without clearly showing how each point supports the claim that cinemas are becoming less important. The second paragraph combines partial agreement with a claim that theatres are no longer relevant, so the relationship between these ideas is difficult to follow. Some linking phrases, including “In a nutshell” and “It can be concluded,” feel formulaic. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, explain it, and then connect the example directly to that claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “digital era,” “entertainment industry,” “economy,” and “access to the internet,” which makes the general subject clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or informal, sometimes making the meaning less precise. Examples include “the cinemas and theatres are now become the part of the past,” “access to it from our homes,” and “positive invention of human kind.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “cinimas,” “relevent,” and “Netflex.” Aim for more precise expressions and check spelling carefully. Using terms such as “streaming platforms,” “box-office revenue,” and “shared cultural experience” would help you discuss both sides more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences and subordinate clauses, for example, “While some disagree with this and believe…” and “as we can access to it from our homes.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the response difficult to read. Examples include “are now become” instead of a correct present-tense form, “Our lifestyle and daily activities makes,” and “theatres are part of the culture and has good impact.” Sentence fragments and punctuation problems also appear in “And I totally agree…” and “recession make. It even worse.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries. Shorter, carefully controlled sentences would improve clarity while you build confidence with complex forms.
