Student answer (Band 5.5)

People have different views regarding the theatres and cinemas does not plays crucial role in todays digital age. Some people think that they are still important both economically and culturally. However, another consider that they are no further important in this modern era due to fact that they can watch entertainment shows on online platforms. This essay intends to discuss both views in upcoming paragraph with my opinion.

There are numerous reason why cinemas and theaters are important or not in today's digital age. To begin with, the prime one behind this is that every individual get internet connection owing to this they can watch anything that was available on internet. For example videos on youtube they are available when individual have interbet connection. Another reason worth mentioning is that rise in useage of OTT platforms. There are huge number of moblie app which streams entertainment shows online. For instance an article was published in ''The Time of India '' that revealed a significant proportion of people watching online shows on OTT platform like Netflix, Hotstar and Prime videos are increasing by 39% anually.

Some people, however, might arhur that they are still plays crucial role culturally and economically. They beleive that going to theaters is important culturally because they shows the culture of the particular coutry or region. For example the theater of Bharatnatyam shows the culture of Odisha. Some may even argue that the income from cimemas is from world wide which help to increase the economy of a specific country.

In conclusion, although it is clear from above discussion why some people are in favour of former view. I firmly they still plays an important role culturally and economically.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the discussion and state a preference for the view that theatres and cinemas remain important. The examples about online platforms and the cultural role of Bharatanatyam give the response relevant material. However, the two positions are not developed evenly: the case for online viewing is explained with internet access and streaming services, while the economic importance of cinemas is only asserted, without explaining how it benefits a country. Your own opinion appears mainly in the introduction and conclusion, and the conclusion’s wording makes it difficult to identify your reasoning. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation and make your position explicit throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate discussion paragraphs and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “To begin with,” “For example” and “In conclusion” help signal stages in the argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first body paragraph begins by referring to reasons cinemas are important or not, then focuses almost entirely on online viewing. Some connections are also mechanical or confusing, particularly “although it is clear from above discussion why some people are in favour of former view.” Use topic sentences that identify each paragraph’s position, and connect examples directly to the point they support. Clearer referencing would also help readers follow who “they” refers to.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “digital age,” “OTT platforms,” “culturally and economically” and “significant proportion.” This gives you enough language to communicate the general topic, but the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts difficult to understand. Examples include “no further important,” “shows the culture” and “income from cimemas is from world wide.” Spelling errors such as “interbet,” “moblie” and “anually” also reduce accuracy. Aim to use more precise expressions for the ideas you discuss, and check spelling carefully. Learning common collocations related to entertainment, cultural heritage and economic contribution would make your argument clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a concession beginning “although” and clauses introduced by “because” and “that.” However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to interpret. For example, “the theatres and cinemas does not plays” has problems with subject–verb agreement and verb form, while “every individual get internet connection” also has agreement and article errors. The conclusion, “I firmly they still plays,” is missing a verb and contains an agreement error. Work on forming complete sentences, matching verbs to their subjects, and using articles and verb forms accurately. Practising a few reliable complex sentence patterns will help you express relationships between ideas without losing control.
