Student answer (Band 5.0)

Few individuals thinks in the digital age, traditional cinemas and theatres are less important because people can watch all the shows or movies on internet, while some people thinks traditional cinemas and theatres would be crucial for both economically and culturally.

In my opinion, technology is going to advance and gives all the facilities to people, watching movies and shows at home, that is a good improvements for all of us.

In recent years, some people have more workload and they don't have time to go cinemas or theatres to watch movies and shows. To ellaborate this, many people are working day and night shifts and they didnt get time to go cinema and watch movies, instead whenever they find some time to themseleves they watch latest movies online at home and relax with their family. For example, my father is a doctor he didn't have time for watching movies,so whenever he got time on weekends he watch movies online with us.

In contrast, watching movies and shows in cinemas and theatres are also important economically and culturally. In other words, some people are feel connected to movies and shows when they watch them on cinemas. Also the live shows in theatres are connected emotionally to charcters not online. For instance, i went to watch an historical drama when i see all the character live i feel connected to them instead i watch them online i didn't feel ever. Thus, it gives us connected to our tradition and economy.

In my opinion, today's life are very hectic for people and they dont have time to watch movies on theatres, instead they watch them online when they get free from their busy schedule.

In conclusion, both the ways to watch entertainment are good enough but the online is better option for those who are busy at their life and want some relaxation and stress free, meanwhile the people who have time can go to watch draams and movie live, it gives you another kind of enjoyment with other people including on the cinemas.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and give a clear preference for online entertainment, supported by the example of your father’s work schedule. You also recognise the cultural and economic importance of live venues, and your personal experience of an historical drama is relevant. However, the economic point is only asserted in “it gives us connected to our tradition and economy”; you do not explain how theatres or cinemas support jobs, businesses, or local income. The discussion also shifts between cinemas and theatres without fully distinguishing recorded films from live performances. To strengthen the response, develop each side with a specific reason and explain how your examples support it, while keeping your position consistent across the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its broad structure. Examples are generally placed alongside the relevant point. However, progression is limited because the final opinion paragraph repeats the introduction’s claim that busy people prefer online viewing, rather than adding a new implication or weighing the two sides. Linking phrases such as “In contrast,” “In other words,” and “Thus” are used, but some connections are unclear: “Thus” does not clearly follow from the preceding cultural example, and “meanwhile” joins ideas that are not strongly contrasted. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the claim it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “digital age,” “workload,” “live shows,” “emotionally,” and “tradition.” There are also attempts to express distinctions between online and in-person entertainment. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. Examples include “connected to movies,” “another kind of enjoyment,” and “stress free”; more precise collocations would make the argument sound clearer and more academic. Spelling errors such as “ellaborate,” “themseleves,” “charcters,” and “draams” are also noticeable. Build a bank of accurate topic collocations and check spelling and word forms during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses with “because,” “whenever,” and “when,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors are frequent, and some longer constructions are difficult to follow. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “Few individuals thinks” and “today’s life are”; verb forms are also faulty in “he watch movies” and “they didnt get time.” Articles and sentence boundaries need attention, as in “my father is a doctor he didn’t have time,” while “some people are feel connected” combines incompatible verb forms. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, consistent tense, and correct clause punctuation. Shorter, accurate sentences will help you express your ideas more reliably.
