Student answer (Band 5.5)
In today's digital world, where technology has grown so much and everyone have the access to internet and people watch their preferred content digital. While some people believe that having theatres and cinemas also beneficial for the outdoor activities. This essay will discuss both perspectives before explaining why I believe that theatres and cinemas are still valuable.
One the one hand, there are several reasons why modern generation especially young youth consider online platforms are essential and helpful for digital stuff. People can watch different variety of movies, web series, and their favourite content on different platforms like Netflix, Amazon prime and couple of more. For example, if you are planning to watch a movie you can just open your laptop or smartphone and start watching. It can save your valuable time and money as well. The only thing we need is the access of internet. Therefore, it is understandable why some people believe that theatres and cinemas are not much necessary in digital world.
One the other hand, others argue that theatres and cinemas are still essential both economically and culturally. One important reason is that entertainment venues plays crucial role in economical growth of the country. It can generate a handsome money and government can use it for the welfare of the society. Furthermore, performing arts venues are still helpful for stress peoples. For example, if a person is suffering from daily hectic routine and wanted to spend some quality time with his family, these public entertainment spaces are the best venues to regain his energy and freshen up.
In conclusion, although digital platforms are essential for entertainment purpose and it has several advantages. I believe that, movie theatres plays a significant part for the growth of the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and state your opinion, so the response is relevant to the task. The online-entertainment paragraph gives clear practical reasons—convenience, choice, and saving time and money—and the conclusion confirms your support for cinemas. However, the cultural importance of theatres and cinemas is not really explained, and the economic claim that venues generate money for government welfare is asserted without a specific explanation or example. The discussion therefore covers the task only partially, with ideas that remain general or under-developed. To strengthen the response, explain how shared live experiences preserve cultural traditions or support artists and local businesses, and develop your economic point with a relevant example. The response meets the stated length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting opposing views, and a conclusion. Phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and some links feel mechanical rather than showing how one idea leads to the next. For instance, the move from venues generating money to helping people with stress is abrupt, while “Furthermore” does not explain the relationship between these points. The introduction also contains a fragment beginning “While some people believe…”. Improve cohesion by grouping related reasons, using clearer references, and adding explanations that connect each example to the paragraph’s main claim.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “online platforms,” “web series,” “economical growth,” and “public entertainment spaces.” The examples of Netflix and Amazon Prime also make the discussion concrete. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate, which makes some phrases difficult to interpret—for example, “digital stuff,” “a handsome money,” and “stress peoples.” Repetition of general terms such as “essential,” “helpful,” and “important” also limits precision. Aim to use more exact language for the economic and cultural roles of venues, and check whether words naturally combine in English. More precise collocations would make your ideas clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional example (“if you are planning to watch a movie…”) and a concession in the conclusion. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “everyone have” instead of subject–verb agreement, “One the one hand” and “One the other hand” with incorrect article use, and “venues plays” instead of a plural verb. The opening also contains an incomplete sentence beginning “While some people believe…”, and the final sentence has a comma after “I believe that” that interrupts the structure. Practise building complete sentences and checking agreement, articles, and verb forms; then proofread punctuation and sentence boundaries.
