Student answer (Band 6.5)
Technological Advancement has evolved drastically in recent decades. While some people believe digital transformation has changed the way individuals perceive movies, critics argue that theatres and cinemas depict the culture of one's place and assists increasing economy. I believe they remain important because they provide unique social and cultural experiences and contribute to the economy.
On the one hand, the online entertainment has made theatres and cinemas less appealing to some people. To begin with, online streaming platforms provides wide range of films, television programmes and other sources of entertainment available at the ease of their homes, without having to travel and pay for expensive tickets. Moreover, online services provide greater flexibility, as users can watch content whenever they want and pause or replay it according to their preferences. For example, platforms such as Netflix and YouTube offer thousands of programmes that can be accessed instantly using a smartphone, computer or smart television. Consequently, the convenience, affordability and variety offered by digital entertainment have reduced the need for people to visit traditional entertainment venues.
On the other hand, theatres and cinemas continue to play an important role in society because they provide unique social and cultural experiences. Unlike watching entertainment at home, visiting a cinema allows people to enjoy films on a large screen with high-quality sound while sharing the experience with friends and family. Furthermore, theatres provide a platform for live performances, which helps preserve cultural traditions and supports local artists. From an economic perspective, these venues also generate employment for actors, technicians, staff and other workers, while attracting customers to nearby restaurants and businesses. Therefore, despite the convenience of online entertainment, traditional entertainment venues continue to have considerable cultural and economic value.
In conclusion, though online platforms have made movie content available easily, theatres and cinemas helps generating job opportunites and also preserves cultural identity.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and state a clear opinion: cinemas and theatres remain important for their social, cultural and economic contributions. The discussion of online entertainment is relevant and supported with examples such as Netflix and YouTube, while the opposing view includes live performance, local artists and employment. This meets the task well, but the two sides are not developed equally in depth: the online paragraph mainly lists convenience, flexibility and variety, and the economic and cultural claims in the final paragraph could use a specific example or further explanation. The conclusion restates your position, though it focuses more on jobs and cultural identity than on the social experience also raised earlier. More balanced development would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for each view and a concluding statement. The progression from online convenience to the continuing value of venues is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” make the organisation explicit. This is coherent, though some linking is formulaic, and the conclusion does not fully gather the main strands of the argument. There is also a small reference issue in “the online entertainment”: the article makes the general idea sound specific. To improve, use a wider range of natural transitions and connect examples more explicitly to the claims they support, while keeping references clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “streaming platforms,” “flexibility,” “cultural traditions,” “generate employment” and “economic value.” These choices communicate the main ideas clearly, and some less common expressions show an attempt to be precise. However, several word-choice and collocation problems reduce naturalness: “Technological Advancement” is unnecessarily capitalised, “depict the culture” is not the best fit for the intended meaning, and “assists increasing economy” is awkward. There are also spelling and word-form slips, including “opportunites” and “available at the ease of their homes.” Aim for more idiomatic combinations and check spelling and word forms carefully; this would make the vocabulary more controlled without needing a more complicated style.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex structures, including subordinate clauses with “While,” “because” and “as,” and the sentence beginning “Unlike watching entertainment at home” adds variety. Most meaning remains clear, but some agreement and verb-form errors are noticeable. For example, “platforms provides” should be “platforms provide,” “theatres and cinemas depict … and assists” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “theatres and cinemas helps generating” in the conclusion needs a plural verb and a corrected verb pattern. The sentence “critics argue that theatres and cinemas depict the culture of one's place” also has an unclear grammatical relationship between its clauses. Review agreement with plural subjects and verb patterns, then proofread complex sentences to ensure each clause is complete and clearly connected.
