Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some individuals assert that theatres and cinemas are no longer important in this digital era while others say that they are still important financially and culturally. I agree with the opinion that they are outdated in this age of modern entertainment.
Firstly, the main reason of their insignificance is the time a person have to spend getting ready for going out and then watch the show. In this fast paced world nobody has this much time to spend on a single outdoor activity and it gets worse if due to some reason the show has been cancelled or theatre has closed early. Considering myself an exmaple as I am still a student and not entered my professional life yet but i have never watched a single performance in cinema or theatre. Furthermore, introduction of online streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime have also played their role in decreasing the importance of theatres. Nowadays, people can enjoy millions of shows of their choice from home at a very reasonable price. The rising viewership of these online platforms is a proof that the world is moving towards digital entertainment.
On the other hand, these places remind you of your identity, your origin and about your culture. They bring nostalgia by reminding us of our childhood in which we used to go there with our family and enjoy the show. Also they are economically very impactful because they have offered employment to number of people. If today's generation stop watching shows in them, there will be large number of unemployments as many families will suffer from financial crisis.
In conclusion, both opinions are right in their place but i believe that theatres and cinemas are no longer needed in this digital world where we can watch shows online and save time by watching them home.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the discussion and state your position clearly: you consider online convenience and streaming services, then acknowledge cinemas’ cultural role and employment contribution before concluding that they are no longer needed. These points are relevant, but the two views are not developed equally. The case for online entertainment is supported with personal experience and examples of platforms, whereas the cultural and economic arguments are asserted more briefly. For instance, the possible loss of jobs is mentioned, but you do not explain how cinemas support local economies or why their cultural role cannot be replaced online. Develop each side with a specific example and explain how it supports your view; this would make the response more fully reasoned.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting online entertainment, a paragraph presenting the opposing view, and a conclusion. Sequencing is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Furthermore,” and “On the other hand” help show the relationship between ideas. However, some connections feel mechanical, and the first body paragraph combines several points—time, personal experience, and streaming platforms—without always making their relationship explicit. The transition from cultural nostalgia to employment in the second body paragraph is also abrupt. Use clearer topic sentences and link each example directly to the paragraph’s main claim. More precise referencing would also help readers follow what “these places” and “them” refer to.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “digital era,” “online streaming platforms,” “viewership,” “nostalgia,” and “employment.” These choices make the main ideas clear, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “the main reason of their insignificance,” “economically very impactful,” and “a proof.” There are also spelling and word-form slips, including “exmaple” and “unemployments.” These do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim for established collocations and check spelling and forms carefully; for example, describe cinemas as “economically significant” and refer to “evidence” or “proof” rather than “a proof.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional construction in “if today’s generation stop watching” and a relative clause in “platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime have also played their role.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and errors rarely obstruct understanding. Some grammatical problems remain, however: “the time a person have” has subject–verb disagreement, while “getting ready for going out and then watch” does not maintain a consistent structure. The sentence beginning “Considering myself an exmaple” is also awkwardly constructed, and the final sentence needs “at home” rather than “them home.” Review agreement, parallel forms, and sentence boundaries, then proofread complex sentences to ensure their parts fit together accurately.
