Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, watching in online platform became more convient and less cheaper for other's rather than going to theatres and cinemas. However, some individuals agrue that theatres and cinemas are crucial for both ecnomically and culturally. In my view, I agree in today's digital age theatres and cinemas are not vital anymore because their are many apps that offer a movie or show without a hassle.

Furthermore, theaters and cinemas are not very common nowadays and many social apps emerged in the digital world. In addition, having that kind of platform people perceive it has a accessible and less cheaper than the theatres or cinemas. Many people chose to stay at home to watch some movies or show because it is a less hassle for them and also a little cheapper than going in cinemas. Also they somehow think it is the convient way to relax and save money at the same time today's. For instance, me and my family chose to stay at home to watch some in neflix because for us it is less cheaper and we can spend more time rather going to cinemas. Besides that some apps like that has a subcription fee but many people find it more cheap and convient.

On the other hand, some people agrue that treatres and cinemas are important because they contribute to the economy and culturally. Other individuals say it is vital because it preserve the culture we have. Besides they believe that it gives an oppurtunites for other people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You present a clear opinion in the introduction: you believe theatres and cinemas are no longer vital because online services are convenient. The paragraph about staying at home develops this view with reasons and a personal example. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the opposing case is only briefly mentioned: the claims that venues support the economy, preserve culture and create opportunities are not explained or illustrated. Your position is also not reinforced in a conclusion. As a result, the response addresses the task only partially, with ideas that remain limited and under-developed. To improve, explain how cinemas generate jobs or revenue and how shared viewing experiences can have cultural value, then conclude by weighing these points against your own view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting online viewing and a paragraph introducing the opposing view. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “For instance,” and “On the other hand” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression is limited: several sentences in the second paragraph repeat that online viewing is cheaper or more convenient, while the final paragraph ends before its ideas are developed. Some links are awkward or do not clearly connect the point, as in “Also they somehow think it is the convient way to relax and save money at the same time today's.” Organise each paragraph around one distinct reason, explain it, and use a concluding paragraph to bring the discussion together. This would make the overall progression clearer and reduce repetition.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “digital age,” “platform,” “contribute to the economy,” and “preserve the culture.” These choices show an attempt to discuss both convenience and cultural importance. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “less cheaper,” “convenient,” and “important.” There are also frequent spelling and word-choice problems, such as “agrue,” “ecnomically,” “subcription,” and “opportunites,” which can make the reader pause. Some combinations are unnatural, including “watching in online platform” and “going in cinemas.” Build a wider set of accurate expressions for cost, access, employment and cultural experience, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including a reason clause in “because for us it is less cheaper” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” This shows some effort to connect ideas rather than relying entirely on short statements. However, the range remains limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, agreement, articles and verb forms. For example, “their are many apps” has an incorrect subject form, while “some apps like that has a subcription fee” has a subject–verb agreement problem. The sentence beginning “Also they somehow think…” is difficult to follow because its structure and ending are unclear. Practise building accurate complex sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement and sentence boundaries when editing.
