Student answer (Band 6.0)

We can witness an increase in new streaming services, where people can watch content at the luxury of their home.People prefer buying a subscription at a nominal price and enjoy a variety of content included in that price. This view is challenged by the individuals who prefer the big screen experience and enjoy watching movies with a large audience of people.I strong believe that theatres and cinemas are very important for a nice viewing experience as well as for economic and cultural growth of a country.

People who argue that theatres are no longer important as there is a rise in the the digital media, often argue that the content is better and large in numbers when compared to a single movie at the theatres. For example, if a movie turns out to be bad in a theatre u will have to sit through it for its entire runtime whereas, if u are watching at home u can easily switch to another content available on the same streaming platform and u wont have to pay any extra money for it as there price of these subscription are almost same as the price of one movie ticket and offer more content.

However, theatres attracts its audience not with the content of the film but with the promise of a larger than life experience.Movie halls offer exclusive formats for viewing the film such as IMAX, 4DX and Dolby Vision. These formats attract people to come watch a movie that cannot be matched on a smaller home tv screen.Theatres contribute to spread culture and also boom a nations economy with a successful run at the box office. For example, the movie RRR, promoted the Indian culture and made people from around the world go and watch the movie.China particularly puts a lot of expense in promoting movie culture as the tax earned from high grossing movie helps the nation significantly.

If even watching movies at home is easier and offers a larger variety to watch the experience of watching movies in a theatre is far more superior and for this reason i enjoying going to the cinema to have a good experience.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You discuss both perspectives and state your own view clearly: you acknowledge the convenience and variety of streaming, then argue that cinemas offer a distinctive experience and contribute economically and culturally. The examples of IMAX and the film RRR help make the second position concrete. However, the two sides are not developed equally. The streaming argument focuses mainly on switching films and subscription value, while the economic and cultural claims about cinemas are asserted more than explained; the point about China and tax revenue, for instance, needs clearer support. To strengthen the response, explain more fully how online entertainment affects theatres and how cinema activity creates jobs, revenue, or cultural exchange, while maintaining your stated preference.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall shape: an introduction, a paragraph presenting the case for streaming, a contrasting paragraph about cinemas, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “For example” and “However” help signal the relationship between ideas. At times, though, the progression within paragraphs is less controlled. The sentence about China follows the RRR example without a clear explanation of how the two points connect, and the conclusion repeats the preference for cinemas rather than drawing together the economic, cultural, and experiential arguments. Some transitions are also mechanical. Use clearer topic sentences and make each example explicitly support the claim immediately before it; this would make the organisation more consistently logical.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “streaming services,” “subscription,” “box office,” and “IMAX,” and these terms make the subject clear. There are also attempts at more descriptive phrasing, such as “larger than life experience.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or informal: “at the luxury of their home” would be more naturally expressed as “in the comfort of their homes,” and “boom a nation’s economy” is not an appropriate collocation. “Content” is repeated frequently, and “nice viewing experience” is vague. Aim for more precise alternatives such as “programming,” “cinematic experience,” and “boost the economy,” while checking spelling and apostrophes in forms such as “theatres” and “nation’s.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional example beginning “if a movie turns out to be bad” and a contrast introduced by “whereas.” Meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. Examples include “I strong believe” instead of “I strongly believe,” “theatres attracts” instead of “theatres attract,” and “I enjoying going” instead of “I enjoy going.” There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “the price of these subscription are.” Several sentences run together without spaces after full stops, and the final sentence needs clearer punctuation. Proofread for subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and sentence boundaries, then retain the complex structures that are already helping you express comparisons.
