Student answer (Band 6.0)

Culture and traditions help understand their identity and connect with their community. In the contemporary era, online platforms are more prominent such as Netflix, Amazone Prime and Jio Hotstar. Some people believe that theatres and cinemas are no longer significant, while others believe that it still important for both economically and culturally. I believe that although online entertainment is convenient, theatres and cinemas continue to play an important role in society.

The main justification of this view is that online platforms provide more convenience and confort. Online entertainment has made cinemas and theatres less necessary for many people. Streaming platforms allow to watch any movies, shows, entertainment videos, documentries and educational videos, whenever they want and also they can stop and rewind it. Second significant reason for this view is that nowadays people prefer watching personalize contents or characters. Every people have own interest, so online services usually provide a large variety of content at a relatively low cost. For example, people in India can use platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime to watch.

From an alternative perspective, theatres and cinemas still provide economic and cultural benefits. First and foremost, they can create employments such as actors, directors, camera men and many other worker. Secondly, cinemas also supports restuarants and shops. Thirdly, live watching films give more excitements and feel energetic and lively atmosphere. For instance, gujarati theater performances can allow people enjoy with local language and also benefits for small businesses.

To recapitulate, although online entertainment is cheaper and more convenient, cinemas and theatres are still valuable.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state a clear position: online entertainment is convenient, but cinemas and theatres remain important. The first body paragraph gives relevant reasons for the online view, including flexible viewing and a wide choice of content; the second discusses employment, support for nearby businesses, and the atmosphere of live performance. These points meet the task, but some are less fully developed than others. For example, the India streaming example ends without explaining what it demonstrates, while the Gujarati theatre example is more specific but could show more clearly how it benefits local culture or businesses. Develop each main point with a fuller explanation or a concrete example, and make the economic and cultural contributions more distinct.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding summary. The progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “From an alternative perspective” and “To recapitulate” help readers identify the stages of the argument. This organisation is effective, while some linking remains mechanical: “First and foremost,” “Secondly,” and “Thirdly” present a list rather than showing how the points relate. Some references are also unclear, as in “it still important,” where the subject is not clearly matched to the plural “theatres and cinemas.” To strengthen cohesion, connect ideas through cause, contrast, or consequence and use precise references instead of relying mainly on sequencing phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “online platforms,” “streaming platforms,” “economic and cultural benefits,” and “local language.” This is enough to communicate the main ideas, and some choices show an attempt to be specific. However, inaccurate spelling and word choice are noticeable and sometimes make the phrasing less natural: “confort,” “documentries,” “personalize contents,” and “employments” are examples. There are also awkward combinations such as “live watching films” and “feel energetic and lively atmosphere.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding the argument, but they limit precision and naturalness. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for entertainment, employment, and audience experience.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the concession in “although online entertainment is convenient” and the sentence explaining that viewers can stop and rewind content. The overall meaning is generally clear, but some errors in agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction remain. For example, “it still important” needs a form of “be,” “Every people have own interest” has problems with number and possessives, and “cinemas also supports” does not agree in number. The sentence beginning “Streaming platforms allow to watch” also needs a clear object or subject construction. Review subject–verb agreement and build complex sentences around complete, clearly linked clauses; this will improve accuracy without sacrificing variety.
