Student answer (Band 5.0)

In my opinion firstly in this generation many people are not interested in theaters and cinemas. they enjoy only online games, videos and other activities because everything is available online easily that's why they hesitate to go watch theater and cinema.

secondly, if people are going to see cinema or theater shows they are going to enjoy the energy and the performance and also appreciate the artist performance because it's help to artist to encourage they gave more and more excellent performance.

Thirdly, the shows of cinema and theatre also boost the economy and entertainment industry to provide the people more interesting program and drama. in the other hand online programs just we see in the picture and it's not very hard to see some things but their is opposite of cinema there is a lot of hard work required and it also give the opportunity of artist for work

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You express a relevant view that online entertainment has reduced some people’s interest in cinemas and theatres, and you also mention the live experience, support for performers, and economic benefits. However, the task asks you to discuss both views and give your own opinion; the online side is only briefly described, and the cultural importance of live venues is not clearly explored. Your position is introduced with “In my opinion,” but it is not developed into a clear, sustained argument. The response also contains 150 words, below the required 250, so there is not enough explanation or relevant example to develop the points. Extend each view with reasons and a specific example, then state your judgement clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic sequence of points, signalled by “firstly,” “secondly,” and “Thirdly,” and the reader can identify a contrast between online entertainment and live performances. However, these markers do not create a clear overall progression: the first point concerns audience habits, the second the live experience, and the third the economy, but the links between them are not explained. The final paragraph also combines several ideas without a clear concluding sentence. Some connections, such as “in the other hand,” are difficult to follow, and punctuation and paragraphing make the organisation less clear. Group the two viewpoints into distinct paragraphs, use accurate linking phrases, and finish with a concise conclusion that restates your opinion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a small set of relevant topic words, including “online,” “performance,” “economy,” “entertainment industry,” and “artist,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the vocabulary is limited and several phrases are repeated or imprecise, such as “theater and cinema,” “more and more excellent performance,” and “some things.” Some word combinations are unnatural, including “enjoy the energy” and “give the opportunity of artist for work,” which make parts of the argument harder to interpret. Aim for more precise terms for live venues, audiences, and employment, and check collocations when describing benefits. This would help you express the same ideas more clearly and with less repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example with “because” and “if,” but most structures are simple or become difficult to control when extended. Errors in sentence boundaries and punctuation are frequent: “they enjoy only online games” begins with an uncapitalised word after a full stop, while the opening sentence runs several clauses together. There are also problems with agreement and verb forms, as in “it's help” and “they gave more and more excellent performance,” and article use in “go watch theater and cinema.” These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then add controlled complex clauses and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation.
