Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address both views and give a clear opinion: online entertainment is convenient and affordable, but cinemas and theatres remain valuable. The discussion is relevant and supported with reasons, including the social experience, employment, benefits to nearby businesses, and the preservation of artistic traditions. These points show good coverage of the task. To make the response more fully developed, explain some claims in greater depth or add a specific example—for instance, how a local theatre preserves a particular tradition, or how cinema-going supports a community. The final point about the large-screen experience also repeats the general idea that venues cannot be replaced, rather than adding a distinct reason. Overall, the position is clear and the main ideas are extended, though some support remains general.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion that restates your position. The progression from convenience and affordability to social, economic, and cultural benefits is easy to follow. You also use signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hands,” and “Firstly” to guide the reader. However, some linking is mechanical, and the conclusion’s “Although …, so … but …” construction makes the relationship between ideas unclear. There are also abrupt shifts between points within the second body paragraph. To strengthen cohesion, use fewer formulaic transitions and connect each supporting explanation more explicitly to the paragraph’s main idea; ensure pronouns and linking phrases refer clearly to the ideas they introduce.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “streaming services,” “social experience,” “generate income,” and “local artistic tradition.” These choices help communicate the main arguments, and there is some attempt to use less common language. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms are noticeable throughout, including “advencement,” “theathres,” “entertainmenmt,” and “oppertunity.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “access of variety” and “getting least famous.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause, even though the intended meaning is usually recoverable. Build accuracy by checking spelling carefully and learning common collocations as complete phrases, such as “access to a variety of” and “becoming less popular,” rather than translating word by word.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a subordinate clause in “as they do not have enough time” and a contrast structure in the conclusion. The overall meaning is generally understandable, but errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction occur often enough to affect fluency. For example, “some people believes” should use a plural verb, while “streaming services allows” needs a plural subject–verb match. In “these venues contributes,” the verb also needs to agree with the plural subject. The final sentence combines “Although,” “so,” and “but” in a way that creates a faulty structure. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, and use one clear contrast pattern at a time.
