Student answer (Band 6.0)
People differ over whether cultural venues like movie house and live performing venue are losing their importance in this technological age where all the entertainment is easily accessible on online platforms or few individuals think that they are still important in terms of economy and culture. I believe theaters and cinemas are still an important part of society because watching a movie or a play creates a collective emotional atmosphere.
Discussing former opinion, large portation of individuals think that venues for movies and live plays are not important in digital era is because many people now a days focus on comfort and convience over experience. To elaborate, people can watch any movies or play on streaming platforms at their home in comfortable enviroment alone without any disturbance. In addition, streaming platforms eliminat the commute to theaters and cinema to watch a play.
Conversely, the suppoters of the opposite opinion have their own arguments. To begin with, theaters and cinemas provide a unique experience for the audience due to which they are still important culturally and economically. Moreover, people like to watch movies in cinemas because they enjoy the movies in on a big screen with other people and enjoy the collective emotional experience like laugh togather etc.
To reiterate, although, many people want to watch movies in a comfort place and consider that cinemas and theaters have no longer needed or as important as they use to be, I support latter viewpoint to a great extent. This is because theaters and cinemas have a good collective experience. However they also supports many restaurant and cafe near them which make cinemas and theaters economically important.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both views and make your position clear: you support the continuing importance of theatres and cinemas, especially because of the shared emotional experience. The discussion of online viewing is relevant, with points about comfort and avoiding travel, and the final paragraph adds an economic reason by mentioning nearby restaurants and cafés. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the economic contribution is introduced only at the end, with no detail about jobs, ticket revenue, or local businesses, while the cultural case relies mainly on watching together. Develop each side with a specific example and explain how it supports your argument; this would make the response more balanced and fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a conclusion that restates your opinion. Signposting such as “Conversely” and “To reiterate” helps readers follow the discussion, and the main ideas generally appear in a logical order. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some features of stronger progression. However, links between points can feel mechanical, and the conclusion’s “However” does not clearly connect the economic point to the preceding sentence. Some references are also unclear, such as “former opinion” and “latter viewpoint,” which make readers pause to identify the view being discussed. Use more precise references and connect each supporting detail explicitly to its main claim.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “streaming platforms,” “collective emotional experience,” and “economically important.” These choices show an attempt to discuss both the digital and cultural aspects of the question. However, the range and control are uneven, and several spelling errors or inaccurate word combinations are noticeable, including “portation,” “convience,” “eliminat,” and “supporters.” Phrases such as “watch the movies in on a big screen” also show imprecise expression. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the main argument, but they limit precision and fluency. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases, rather than translating individual words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “where all the entertainment is easily accessible” and a reason clause beginning “because.” The overall meaning is usually clear, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “a comfort place” needs an article and a more suitable noun phrase, while “they also supports” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence “consider that cinemas and theaters have no longer needed” has an incorrect verb construction, and “watch the movies in on a big screen” contains a faulty prepositional pattern. Aim to make sentence structures accurate before adding complexity, and proofread agreement, articles, and verb forms.
