Student answer (Band 5.0)

Few individuals suggest that in the digital era, theatres and cinemas are not important as a person can view all the recreation they want online. Although some masses believe that theatres and cinemas are still hold importance both economically and culturallt because of support local businesses and bring people together, I believe in the formal statement.

On the one hand, the major reason on this viewpoint is that support local businesses. This is due to the fact in develop cities there are small cinemas are still present, by which they support their family and daily needs because they get enough paid from the cinemas. Moreover, they provide employment for the ticket sellers, technicians and so on. Another reason on this statement is that brings people together. To elaborate, by watching a file or play in real life an audience provides a social experience that cannot be completely recreated at home.

On the other hand, I believe in the formal statement because of theatres and cinema are becoming less important. To justify, nowadays online platforms allow people to watch variety of movies, series, and shows which makes them comfortable at home. However, online entertainment is cheaper than buying ticket especially for families. Thus, many people may prefer to watch entertainment online.

To conclude, even though there are several reason which are holds theatres and cinemas importance, I believe in the formal statement because of they are becoming less important.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both sides of the question and state your view: the first body paragraph presents economic and social benefits, while the second argues that online entertainment is more convenient and cheaper. However, the discussion is only partial and the supporting ideas remain limited. For example, the claim that cinemas support local businesses is followed mainly by a point about employees’ income, without explaining the wider economic effect. The cultural importance of theatres and cinemas is also not developed, and your conclusion repeats your position rather than drawing the discussion together. The response is 12 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop examples and reasoning. Extend each main point with a specific example and explanation, and make your position more fully reasoned throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” helps readers follow the broad direction. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear or mechanical. For instance, “Another reason on this statement is that brings people together” does not clearly connect the point to the preceding economic argument, and the conclusion largely repeats the introduction. Some linking phrases, including “To justify” and “Thus,” are used without making the relationship between ideas fully clear. Organise each body paragraph around one central claim, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the next point; use clearer references and less formulaic transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “digital era,” “employment,” “technicians,” “social experience,” and “online platforms,” so the reader can understand the main subject. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts difficult to interpret. “Formal statement” is unclear when referring to one side of the debate, while “watching a file” does not express the intended idea. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, such as “culturallt” and “develop cities.” Aim for precise, natural combinations rather than translating phrases directly. Building a small set of accurate expressions for economic and cultural effects would help you explain the topic more flexibly and clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession in the opening (“Although some masses believe…”) and a reason clause beginning “because.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently, sometimes making relationships between ideas hard to follow. Examples include “theatres and cinemas are still hold importance,” “the major reason … is that support local businesses,” and “there are several reason which are holds.” These show problems with verb forms, agreement, and clause construction. Articles and sentence patterns also need attention, as in “in develop cities there are small cinemas are still present.” Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking that each clause has a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
