Student answer (Band 5.5)

As time hase change significantly, now there are multiple modes of entertainments are available but in this time people's liking has focused on movies and web series. As some individual's think that cinema and theatres are not that important way of entertainment also other are oposing that cimemas are important for economically and culturally. The following essay will discuss both the view followed by my opinion.

On the one hand, in today's time, most of the movies and plays are available in the OTT paltforms like Netflix and amazone that is very convenient mode of enertainment, people can watch that anytime and from anywhere it saves lot of time of people and also individuals are more comfortable watching movies at there own location rather than in theatres, furthermore they are able to have thier favorite snacks while watching movies. Nevertheless watching movies at home can also be the cost efficient rather than watching it offline, as an example in the cost of watching one movie with friends are similar to the cost of OTT subscription of entire month.

On the other hand, Cinemas and theratres are the one of the largest contributors for economy, also with the theatres our cultural values are alive, becasuse of numerous number of movies are produce from the real life examples of culture. However some individual in today's time also preferring watching movies in theatre as they are excited to experience of the sound and picture quality of movies. Further more movies are also displayed on the global stages that can generate significant amount of money out of it.

In conclusion, there are numerous benifits of OTT platforms, but it can not out match benifits and economic support of theatres and cinema.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and give a clear preference in the conclusion: although online platforms have benefits, theatres retain economic and cultural value. The first body paragraph explains convenience, comfort and lower cost, with the subscription comparison as a relevant example. The second identifies employment/economic contribution, cultural representation and the cinema experience. However, some points are asserted rather than explained: for instance, the claim that theatres keep cultural values alive needs a clearer account of how films do this, and the economic contribution is not supported with a specific example. Develop these ideas with explanation or evidence, and make your own position more explicit before the conclusion, to give the discussion more balanced and complete support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. Within paragraphs, however, several ideas are joined into long strings with commas, particularly the opening sentence of the first body paragraph, so the relationships between points can feel mechanical or unclear. “Nevertheless” also introduces a point that continues the case for online viewing rather than contrasting with it. Use full stops to separate distinct reasons, and choose linking expressions that accurately show whether you are adding, contrasting or illustrating an idea. Clearer referencing would also help readers follow what “it” refers to.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “OTT platforms,” “cultural values,” “sound and picture quality,” and “significant amount of money.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main ideas, but the range and control are limited by repeated general terms such as “movies,” “important” and “benefits,” as well as inaccurate word forms and spelling. Examples include “entertainments,” “oposing,” “paltforms,” and “benifits”; these errors are noticeable and can slow the reader. Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “contributors for economy” and “cost efficient.” Build a more precise set of topic phrases and check spelling and collocations carefully; for example, use “contribute to the economy” and “cost-effective.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, using structures such as “as they are excited to experience…” and “because…,” but control is uneven. Some sentences contain several clauses without clear grammatical boundaries, as in the first body paragraph, where the ideas about availability, convenience and comfort run together. There are also errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and possessives: “As time hase change,” “there are multiple modes … are available,” and “at there own location.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause, although the main message remains understandable. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea at a time, then add subordinate clauses; review subject–verb agreement, verb tense, articles and possessive forms, and use full stops to control sentence boundaries.
