Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is an ongoing debate about whether in this digital world, people should go to cinemas or just watch the movies online by staying at home. Some people believe that in today's world cinemas have no significance as the audience can watch all the movies online, while others argue that for the sake of economy and culture cinemas are still important. This essay will examine both perspectives before presenting my own opinion.

On the one hand, in the world of technological advancement there are several apps such as Netflix, Amazon prime and Movie box etc from where you can watch movies, cartoons and all types of entertainment in very reasonable value as compared to the high prices of the tickets in cinemas.Secondly, going to the cinemas also require some hectic work like travelling the large distances and also spending money for the petrol.

On the other hand, cinemas offer very pleasent and wonderful environment to the people that they can not experience in their homes. In addition, going to the entertainment centres also generate large amount of revenues which is eventually of higher importance for both the place and country. Moreover, when large amount of audience gather at a specific place it aslo represents your culture and unity for the particular thing. From my standpoint, people should go to the cinemas as it strengthens the economy and also reinforces the customs.

In conclusion, both viewpoints carry valid points with the first view emphasizes comfort and the other view highlights stability. Having considered both sides, I believe that individuals should go the entertainment centres; however, by staying in their limits.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state a clear preference for cinemas, so the response covers the main parts of the task. The online-entertainment argument is supported with examples such as streaming apps, lower cost, and avoiding travel; the case for cinemas includes the shared experience and economic and cultural benefits. However, some points are asserted rather than explained. For example, the claim that gathering in one place represents “culture and unity” would be stronger with a specific example, and the economic benefit is not developed beyond generating revenue. Your final qualification, “by staying in their limits,” is also unclear and does not explain how people should balance cinema-going with online viewing. Develop these ideas more fully and make the conclusion’s position precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” helps the reader follow the discussion, and the ideas generally progress in a logical order. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. However, the linking is somewhat formulaic, with “Secondly,” “In addition,” and “Moreover” doing much of the work. Some connections between claims are abrupt, particularly the move from cinema attendance to cultural unity. The conclusion also introduces “stability,” which has not been established in the body. Use clearer links between reasons and avoid introducing a new or imprecise idea at the end.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss the issue, including “technological advancement,” “revenues,” “culture,” and “customs.” There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “reinforces the customs,” although this collocation is not natural in context. Overall, the meaning remains understandable, but word choice and spelling errors are noticeable and sometimes make the writing less precise: “in very reasonable value,” “hectic work,” and “pleasent” are examples. Some phrases are also repetitive or vague, including repeated references to “large amount” and “important.” Aim for more accurate collocations and a wider range of precise terms for affordability, convenience, shared experience, and cultural significance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple sentences and more complex forms, including the contrast structure “while others argue” and the clause beginning “when large amount of audience gather.” Most ideas can be understood, and errors do not generally prevent communication. Some grammatical problems remain, however. For example, “going to the cinemas also require” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “large amount of revenues” and “large amount of audience” need more accurate number and article patterns. There are also punctuation and sentence-boundary issues, such as missing spaces after full stops and commas. Practise checking agreement, countable and uncountable nouns, and punctuation, while continuing to use varied sentence structures.
