Student answer (Band 5.5)
The need for theatres and cinemas are quite debatable in recent times due to digital and almost free access to the movies as people can now stream movies or series online whenever they want.In contrast ,there are individuals who still believes that theatres and cinemas play a vital role in both economic and cultural growth.I believe it is more convenient to watch cinemas online as it is readily available and reduces a lot of inconvience.
Individuals who prefer to watch a varios range of cinemas or theatres rely heavily on digital platforms due to the convinience it brings in this digital era. For instance, thousands of cinemas or series are available in platforms like netflix or prime amazon subscriptions cost a lot less for a month to get access to this wide range of movies or series. Additionally, they are more convenient as an individual has the full authority to take control on what they are watching by pausing them or by taking two or more days to finish a single movie. Moreover, there is no issue about the quality of the movies as these platforms provide 4k picture quality to the consumers. This also benefits those individuals who are busy all day and do not get the time to go out for a movie.
However, for some individuals, they prefer to go to theatres and cinemas to enjoy the movies on a big screen with a more clear sound quality. Additionally , this can be a great medium of spending quality time with friends and families on special days. In theatres, people who are more open towards the cultural practices for example, in Cineplex which is situated in Bangladesh, individuals show repect to their country by giving a standing ovation when the national anthem is played. Although each movie ticket costs a lot for which it is also not economical for individuals to purchase a ticket every time a movie is released. In addition, people have to travel a distance for a movie and does not have the freedom to watch movies at their home.Another drawback would be miss out on some part of the movie if an individual is late due to traffic or any other inconvenience.
To sum it up, digital solutions have outwighed the traditional way for theatres and cinemas. According to me, digital solutions are more convenient as they are easily accessible and gives the freedom to control the timing of a cinema rather than depending on the traditional way.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both perspectives and state a clear preference for online viewing, supported by relevant points about cost, convenience, control over viewing time, and the cinema experience. The examples of streaming subscriptions and the national anthem in a Bangladesh cinema help make the discussion concrete. However, the economic and cultural importance of theatres and cinemas is not fully explored: the second view is mainly presented through audience enjoyment and a cultural custom, with little explanation of employment, local business, or support for film production. Some points, such as sound quality and missing a film because of traffic, are listed rather than developed. To strengthen the response, explain the wider significance of each view and connect examples more directly to your argument.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on online viewing, a contrasting paragraph on cinemas, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Additionally,” “However,” and “To sum it up” make the main shifts easy to follow. Within paragraphs, though, several points are added in a list-like way, so the relationship between them is not always developed. The second body paragraph moves from the cinema experience to cultural practices, cost, travel, and lateness without a clear grouping of these ideas. Some references are also unclear, as in “this can be a great medium,” where the referent is not precise. Group related points and use clearer links between claims and explanations to create smoother progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “digital platforms,” “subscription,” “picture quality,” “cultural practices,” and “standing ovation.” These choices communicate the main ideas, but several spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations reduce accuracy, such as “convinience,” “outwighed,” “a varios range,” and “clear sound quality.” Some wording is also repetitive, particularly repeated references to “movies or series” and “convenient.” Aim for more precise collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe cinemas as offering an “immersive viewing experience” rather than simply a “big screen.” A broader set of terms for economic and cultural effects would also help you discuss the task more fully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “as,” “although,” and “if,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, errors in agreement, sentence construction, articles, and punctuation recur. For example, “The need for theatres and cinemas are” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “individuals who still believes” also mismatches subject and verb. In “people have to travel a distance … and does not have the freedom,” the subject changes without the verb being adjusted. Several sentences run together, particularly in the introduction and the sentence beginning “Although each movie ticket costs a lot.” Review agreement and sentence boundaries, and proofread complex sentences to ensure each clause is complete and correctly connected.
