Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the modern era ,everyone uses internet for doing different kinds of tasks like educational and entertainment purposes because it is convenient .Nowadays mostly people consider that theaters and cinemas are not significant because they can watch everything on internet while some individual think it is still crucial for socially and financially. I believe that although digital platforms offer convenience but cinemas and theaters still hold immense value.

On the one hand ,digital age has made entertainment incredibly accessible .Platforms like Netflix, YouTube and Amazon Prime allow users to watch anything conveniently without making any specific schedule .Furthermore, the rising cost of cinemas ticket makes them unaffordable especially large families .Watching movies and shows online is more cheaper then watching on cinemas because on internet it is more flexible for people to watch them on their comfort zone.

On the other hand .theaters and cinemas provide an experience that cannot be replicated online. The big screen, sound system make viewers feel immersed in the movie which is impossible to watch it on smartphones, tablets and laptop. Moreover another benefit is that in cinemas we can easily watch movies with our friends and families and also with strangers and shares our experience with each other. Economically and culturally these establishment are crucial. They provide employment of thousands of people.

In conclusion while online platforms offers convenience and affodibility it should not replace the unique cinematic and theoretical experience. i strongly believe that theaters and cinemas remain essential for social interaction and cultural preservation. Therefore, they should be preserved and supported alongside with modern digital platforms.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both perspectives and state a clear view: online platforms are convenient, but cinemas and theatres retain social and cultural value. The examples of streaming services, ticket costs, the large screen and employment are relevant, so the response meets the main demands of the task. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the online argument explains convenience and affordability, while the economic and cultural importance of venues is asserted more than demonstrated. For example, “They provide employment of thousands of people” would be stronger with a specific explanation or example, and cultural preservation is mentioned only in the conclusion. Develop these points and explain more fully why they matter to society to make the discussion more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates your position. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the discussion. The progression within paragraphs is generally understandable, but some links feel mechanical, and a few sentences combine ideas without clear connections. For instance, the cinema paragraph moves from the viewing experience to socialising and then employment with limited explanation of how these points relate. Improve cohesion by using clearer references and transitions between supporting points, and ensure each paragraph develops one central idea in a deliberate sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “accessible,” “immersed,” “employment,” and “cultural preservation,” and the meaning is generally clear. There is some range, but collocation, word form and spelling errors reduce precision and naturalness. Examples include “cinemas ticket,” “more cheaper,” “on their comfort zone,” and “theoretical experience”; the last phrase does not convey the intended meaning of a theatre or cinema experience. “Affodibility” is also misspelled. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check whether a word expresses the intended idea, rather than relying on broad terms such as “everything” and “crucial.” More accurate, varied phrasing would make your arguments sound more controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a concession in “although digital platforms offer convenience” and a relative clause in “which is impossible to watch it on smartphones.” The overall meaning remains understandable, but errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles and punctuation occur across the response. For example, “the big screen, sound system make” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “it is more flexible for people to watch them on their comfort zone” has an unclear grammatical structure. The opening also contains a comma splice between “era” and “everyone.” Practise building accurate complex sentences and check agreement, articles and sentence boundaries; this will help you express your ideas more smoothly.
